I deliberately articulated my post to not present my beliefs or perceived facts on guesses or estimations as many have done so on here already. So I am interested, other than not sharing my opinion what is it you do not accept that leads you to quite pathetically abuse me.

We should not forget who we are and where we came from, Success bought is not as enjoyable as success earned out of graft and determination.

I think you'll find that when it comes to football, there are very few success stories that haven't involved large amounts of money being invested. We got to the PL (on both occasions) through hard graft, but we need money to sustain what we've achieved, otherwise all the hard work goes to waste. If we don't build on what we've done, how can we ever progress as a club?

I don't disagree with what you are saying but there is a sacrifice to be made in such matters. The issue I and many others have is as follows.

1. I do not believe that anyone should be able to change the name of a football club unless it is deemed to be in the interest of the majority of fans and the footballing community as a whole.
2. I do not see the benefit of changing the name and how this will change anything
3. Generally one Fan from Hull is far more valuable to the club than 100 fans in Egypt, Alienating hardcore locals has an exponential effect. It may not drastically reduce the attendance or the total likes on Facebook and twitter but it damages the club in so many other ways.



So I ask you this.

You may agree with the name change and that is fine. You may think it will bring benefit.

Are you not at all concerned that the owner is alienating hardcore fans and that the damage caused by this decision will not be worth the benefit it will bring. The sacrifice is too great.

This isn't about the decision to rename the club and if that is a good thing or a bad thing it is about the immeasurable fallout of doing so.

Progressing as a club doesn't mean you have to lose your identity. What are you scared of, Allam spitting his dummy out if he doesnt get the name change and selling the club?

I accept the arguments for keeping with the history of the club, but I also remember the many who argued against the move to the Kc, asking why money wasn`t thrown at BP to save it. While tradition would encourage the keeping of the name, for us to be successful revenue does have to be created, the expansion of the stadium will never go ahead while Gerraghty holds one end of the rope and Mr Allam holds the other. So the options are to seek investors who will plough cash into the club with a view to keeping us afloat, and moving us forward. Sadly Mr Needler is no longer around to help out. I do not see any other investors on the horizon who can assist locally or Nationally, the alternative ??? to seek investors abroad. While i personally would like to keep the traditional name of the club, if, and it is a big if, the name change assists in the securing of overseas investment then so be it. But to call upon a man who has ploughed millions into our club to first save it, then to move it forward to the position which it stands today, to go, is complete folly.

Tommy I believe in both cases we were some of the biggest spenders, specially last season, I think we had the 2nd highest expenditure for the season.

As you say "big if". Surely you would only contemplate changes if you had done research to gauge the likely success of that change and not rely on wishful thinking?

Exactly! How many people have already handed their season ticket in (even if it's only 10-15). The only fact right now is that at the moment is that this decision has cost the club real money and as Allam has said himself he isn't even sure that there will be proof of any increase in reward. And these aren't just joe average fans, they are probably spending significant amounts of money.

Hundreds of people have boycotted the shop, myself included, This is costing the club money. I normally spend a fair amount of money in there around Christmas, not this year the instructions have been passed to the family that I do not support this.


We have been in the Premier League 5 minutes, we can't rely on this as our only revenue stream.

If you were to research instead of typing waffle like this then you would see that in Asia the Tiger is reveered, it is all conquering, hence why they try to consume its body parts to digest its power. The name TIGER is condusive to success, and power.

And what research have you done apart from spouting the usual ****e? Just because its a revered animal doesn't mean that an investor would base their decision. On something so simplistic. Actually, as ironic as it sounds, I'm against the name change. Big time.

My concern is that we're forgetting the bigger picture. Whether you want the name change, don't or can't be arsed either way, there's no denying we need self sustainability to continue as a club. My point is that there are many fans who actually accept seeing us back in the doldrums of the bottom division because they are our so called 'glory days'. And that's not on. Everybody in the gutter is looking up and we were no different and now we're actually here, people are moaning that it's all plastic and that they want to go back. Progression means going forward. This point has nothing to do with the name changing, it's about securing the future for the club I love. I can imagine if we ever qualify for Europe, there'll be some knobheads claiming it's ruining the club and that we're selling our soul because we're playing the likes of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. Even with all the money coming in from TV revenue, there'll be moaning people wishing we were still pissing about at Mansfield and Scarbrough.

Do you always respond to others offering a differing opinion to your own with insulsts? I enjoy supporting my club no matter what league they are in and yes, it's nice to be in the premier league but no, not at all costs.

I don't see his overall position as untenable, but on a more realistic note, how can he dig himself out of the pit he's disappearing into?

He's going to need to keep face and credibility, so a refusal or action from the FA will melt the tits off him. If something done by the plans blocked him, his teddy's well out of the pram.

I can't see it happening, but the only way I can see it is if he somehow plays it that he's met with supporters again and, despite not going ahead costing him money, he's agreed to keep the name as he realises how important it is to his people of Hull.

football fans are a fickle lot... 1 whiff of success and all will be forgiven.
