Does it explain Vertonghen's release? Did he want to go or did we bin him? I heard that he wanted a longer contract than we would offer.

In one of the early episodes he comes across as being 50-50 as to whether he wanted to stay or not. Can't remember the exact dialogue but he didn't seem as 100% hopeful on staying as I initially thought he was. I guess the longevity of a potential contract did come into play though, he's signed a 3 year deal with Benfica and that'll take him to 36, I reckon even if we definitely wanted him to stay we would've offered a rolling contract or maximum of 2 years.

Not really,you see very little of Jan apart from a nice bit at the end where he said he never watches football but would always follow Spurs results

Quite surprised he signed that long at Benfica to be honest, unless he’s given up on the return to Ajax as a player.
