All hail Steve Bruce - the best manager we've ever had

May I add my thanks to what is likely to be a growing list, Bruce has achieved more then any other manager ever at the helm of our club, but I suspect he will probably be remembered more for being the perfect diplomat and having to put up with the shenanigans of our illustrious owners, yet still maintaining links with the fans. Add to that he is one really nice bloke, and I have to say this is a sorry state that the club have allowed this man to walk away, because of their ****wittery, greed, slyness, lies, and downright lack of appreciation of what owning a football club is about. The allam family need to hang their heads in shame that they have caused this calamity, but no doubt they`ll be scratching their heads at why Bruce has walked thinking they have done nothing wrong.

I for one thank Bruce for his efforts both on and off the field, and am deeply saddened the way this has evolved, listening to the quotes to Burnsy from him he is deeply saddened by this, which shows that he had the club at heart, but down to prattish behaviour has had no choice.

Our best manager ever for sure, and a thoroughly decent man too. This is genuinely the worst I've ever felt supporting this bonkers club, I genuinely feel really sorry for Brucey, he didn't deserve not just this, but having to be the man that kept this club relatively together for 3 years, I think having to do that has made his achievements all the more remarkable.

Times like this often make fans come together and in many ways when the Allams go the support because of the way we are been treated will make us stronger. Its a very sad day to lose a good man and manager.

Very sorry to see him go like this, but can understand why. As said upthread, he wasn't perfect, but there aren't many perfect football managers around. Always got the impression he cared and tried his very best, and a gentleman too, unlike some of the egos that are around. Best of luck to him, hope Big Sam offers him a job sorting out the England defence, goodness knows they need some work there.

His honesty and fairness always struck me, especially in these days of myopic managers like wenger. Called it how it was, rarely grumbled about dodgy refereeing decisions or claimed not to see controversial incidents. A genuinely decent guy. God this sounds like an obituary. Never truer been has the maxim you don't know what you have til it's gone.

Well I do wonder if he has just precipitated the beginning of the end. (Glimmer of hope surely? Even the darkest corners of the media must understand now because SB was always just a bit untouchable and will be seen as the right side of the story. Add the exodus of lingering Allam support and the result could be favourable. I only mention this in the context of your mentioning the Yanks).
