The main reason the Allams have got their money back is the huge increase in tv money which led to a massive increase in parachute payments, a massive increase in tv money share out and a massive increase in transfer fees - the Allams got lucky - without that we would have been in a real mess
Strange how Sunderland haven't got lucky selling loads of their players for a massive profit.

lucky they had Brucie to get us up to get that money and then sell his team. Bruce saved us

we were lucky - we were 6 points behind Brighton and they ****ed up the first leg against Sheff Wed otherwise it could have been different - on top of which Brucie almost totally ****ed up the semi when losing 2 0 at home - we got promoted despite Brucie

That’s not luck, it’s the basis for deciding promotion as agreed before the season starts :emoticon-0148-yes:

Bruce spent just under £50m at Sunderland and those players were sold for just under £50m (Bent and Mignolet were the only two not sold at a loss and Cattermole is the one one who's still there).

Was that the same semi when Brucie triumphed at Derby 3-0 when most people would have been happy with a 1-0 defeat?

Exactly, if we’d lost 2-0 away and won 3-0 at home people would be calling him a genius. Why is it any different that it was achieved the other way around?

He bought ten players and eight were subsequently sold at a loss (though on a few of them the losses were negligible).

He did finish tenth.

I guess I'm suggesting that the small losses were worth the 10th place finish, and the fact that the remaining two players made the club large profits off-set the rest of the losses.

No doubts SB was a top manager here and has a person he came over has a very genuine person who came over well with the fans. One thing he did do was stand up to Ehab Allan making him walk away from a premier league football club something not many managers do.

Steve Bruce talks Hull City exit, evaporation of trust, recruitment and why with investment he could have built a great side

Hull City's most successful manager talks exclusively to Philip Buckingham about his time at the club, his regrets at having to walk away and why he believes he was building a great City side

Just read it and it makes me hate Ehab even more than before. So glad Bruce has finally come out and said something and I bet he saved it exactly for his return to the KC just to piss off Ehab. Lets see if he counter attacks in his slimy way cos no doubt he will be absolutely raging.
