Can't do what exactly?

In answer to the second question, yes, you believe. What you're not doing is conforming to the wishes.

If a book gives a definition for a god, and the content of the same book shows the god doesn't meet that criteria, does that god exist?

All academic to the point though, the claim was clear and precise. "Every terrorist is an atheist in theory" and that claim is patently wrong.

All that is being proven, is some can't understand the simple definition of atheism.
You're being literally bound to an argument that goes beyond literal meaning, add belief and faith to any argument and the rules change.

What about the first question?

Too hard for ya?

I'm simply arguing against the claim, that "Every terrorist is an atheist in theory", and I say the premise is false, based on definition of 'atheist'.

Based on a definition then maybe, but faith and belief have to go beyond a definition by language as you are putting your faith in something that no one person can either prove or disprove.

That's a different question. Atheism is simply a lack of belief in the existence of god or gods.

Someone may self define as whatever religion they choose, it doesn't mean they follow the tenets of that faith. Not all Anglican priests believe in god for example.

Definitions are key in these debates

Its when we get into them that it gets interesting

Your definition may mean you win a literal argument and that you can cling onto a fact. It doesn't answer the questions that you want though.

Which is simply your choice, people will argue your logic but it will not matter as faith in God is personal and without proof or reason, it is simply your belief.

I don't think it is personal tbh

I use the example of that woman from that TV show, Muslims like us or whatever it was called, saying she was Muslim but didn't pray instead wrote letters, didn't cover and felt didn't need to and wenr clubbing etc as she felt she could. Sure she can do all of that if she chooses but Muslim she isn't. She has denied God

Either really

If he believes in the possibility, then he could still be an atheist.

If he believes in a god that is an alien, then he is not an atheist.

BTW. If, as I suspect, you're trying to claim Dawkin's is an atheist, I couldn't give a ****, I know very little about him and don't follow his writing.
