Great player for Lions in the 70's.

Sadly, very ill with what may be dementia but may have been caused by heading hard footballs - like WBA's Geoff Astle.

Great player in his day.

Nice pictures of him in Lions kit in the gallery of photos.

Before my time digger but sad nonetheless having read the report and surely it's no coincidence after what happen to Jeff Astle? :emoticon-0101-sadsm

Loved the bloke gave everything he had whilst wearing the Wall shirt <ok>

Alf Wood was my first 'favorite' Millwall player when i started going in 1973, very sad to hear of his condition as i bet he has many stories that people would be interested in.

Great header of a ball...and fearless

such a shame

would be nice for Millwall to take the initiative and raise some money towards his care home costs

might shame some of the so called 'big' clubs to do the same for footballers of this era, who did not earn the obscene amounts of money that modern players do

Norwich did that for one of our ex players, Duncan Forbes.
It is indeed sad when players you worshipped as kids suffer this horrible illness.
