This is such sad news, he truly was a QPR legend. He gave everything when he played, they don't make them like him any more, that's for sure. 48 is no age at all.

genuinely shocked by this news, he was my hero growing up. the word legend is thrown about too freely and given to players undeserving of it. big mac is, was and always will be a QPP legend!
R.I.P

Tragic news, absolutely tragic.

His memory will always live on with those of us who used to watch him week in and week out, no one gave more on the pitch than Macca. A true legend.

My thoughts are with his family and friends. RIP Macca <rose>

This is very sad news since MH has taken over I have recalled many great memories of the battles between these two, I am sure MH will say remember him fondly as well.

RIP

I remember Hughes saying something like 'I still have the scars from Alan McDonald to prove it' when he joined the club (talking about his previous encounters with us)

I expect him to expand on that in an article in the coming days. I dont think theres a better man to talk about the virtues of him as a player.

just seen on sky sports text how very sad news & what a legend for qpr, only heard him on talksport a few weeks ago & said he was good health, 48 no age whatsoever R.I.P & thoughts with family.

Absolute legend, 17 years at one club!
Doubt that will happen again......

RIP big man, you were and always will be a true hoop through and through.

Shocking news and at such a young age. So sad for his family. RIP Alan MacDonald, 17 years at QPR, it gave me great pleasure watching you play.

Poor old Macca. Great old pro. It wasn't his fault he was number two to an idiot like Waddock when he returned to the Club in later years. Nothing can sully our memory of a great player and by all accounts, a decent lad too.

R.I.P

Absolutely gutted by this news. A true gent and QPR legend. Grew up watching.
Life is weird because I was only thinking about ’Macca’ this morning (don’t ask me why, I can’t remember).
So sad
RIP
