I have no idea about flooring, but didn't he use the raised floor for the squash tournament? At school netball was played on concrete, but that's no indication that that is how it should be played.
I have no idea either, only that it's clearly more involved than the image I've got in my mind, or the trampolining for one would be happening.
If what I saw outside was the flooring there are dozens of different sections. A smaller version of the Humber Bridge sections that you passed on the train out of Hull all those years ago. I would think moving them all in, fitting them together, levelling the floor, etc, and dismantling it would take some time. Unless they get a booking for a day or two I can't see him paying for that for a session that lasts an hour or two.
The trampoline club had a contract for the tournament before the evictions. He'd have lost face nationally if it was cancelled as well as being liable for compensation. I think they may have been one other pre-booked event other than the squash.
It couldn't because the price range the SMC is allowed to charge is part of the lease with the Council.
If it takes an additonal hour to install and dismantle the pitch, wouldn't that hour be charged as hall use? So a three hour trampoline session incurs a four hour charge?
I would have said if the SMC accept the contract it is their responsibility to prepare the hall. Why would someone pay for an extra hour if they don't have to pay for it?
But if the time for that preparation eats into other session spots, I think it's only reasonable to charge for the extra unusable slots, or prepare the area during the hire period as they do with circuit training, badminton etc.
If the Allams had got all the users on board maybe that would have worked but once they were evicted all the goodwill vanished. After being evicted why would you pay for a four or five hour session when previously you'd paid for a three or four hour session? You wouldn't. You'd do what the trampolining club are doing which is to raise the money to buy their own space so they can escape eviction in the future.
I guess that depends on costs. If the overall hire charge is the same, they probably spent an amount of time setting the area up anyway, so it's conceivable the charges/time would be comparable and cheaper than buying a hall.
I suppose they could recoup some of their outlay buy hiring it out to some of the other groups affected, but that could mean they'd have to pack their stuff away after use.
If they manage to raise the sponsorship it may not cost them anything apart from the running costs. They'd also have to consider whether the landlord is trustworthy. I suspect they think the landlord isn't, which makes acquiring their own facility a lot more attractive.
True. It should never have reached the point that a discussion like this was possible.
I suspect installing the solid floor takes hours and however long it takes, it takes the same to remove it again afterwards, it's obviously not practical to take it in and out just for someone to use it for a few hours.

In the greater scheme of things once the new pitch is installed at Burton, with the Arena being loss making to date I suspect the Allams will make the 'kind gesture' and give the arena back to the council for them to reinstate as they seem to prefer. That said something tells me they won't accept it, poison chalice!
Thank God for some common sense. A couple of hours booking would need walls, floor and roof as standard, total insanity to expect anything else. A squash court is a specialist self-contained unit and would fall into special needs, as does some of the drivel on here.
They should raise their own money to buy their own trampolines first. Or look up the definition of the word 'hire', I don't think it means 'you can march in and forcibly remove......'
It's academic now really. The judgement is made and they're looking at somewhere of their own.
My view is that that, if it had to be done, the club could have handled the PR better and offered a bit of help for people forced from the community facility that they'd been using and helping support. Even if that support was only due courtesy and consideration, or a bit of consideration on how to incorporate multi use better into the design.
They can change Wembley from an international football stadium into an international boxing arena or concert venue overnight. Supporting a couple of trampolines shouldn't take too much.
^^This^^ ...... spending a few quid helping those evicted would certainly have sweetened a bitter pill; what we got was the Allams handing their opponents yet another stick to beat em' with. PR, they haven't got a ****ing clue.
