Stuttgart striker Pavel Pogrebnyak is a target for Sunderland, according to his agent.

The Russia international is said to be of interest to a number of Premier League clubs, with the Black Cats at the front of the queue.

He has reportedly told the German outfit that he wants to leave after two years at the club, and is also attracting interest from Liverpool and Tottenham.

The 27-year-old's agent said no formal discussions have taken place but there has been inquiries about the forward, including one from Sunderland.

Agent Oleg Artemov said: "They are one of the clubs who approached us concerning Pavel.

"Besides them, there are some other teams from England and Germany who contact me from time to time, testing the waters for possible cooperation.

"So we just call each other and talk. Nothing of that went as far as some negotiations between the clubs.

"Pogrebnyak has proved in Germany that he is a skilled football player.

"It would be interesting for me to watch him play in the English league, but it's up to the player.

"One thing I can tell you for sure is that Pavel will not be without a decent team."

Artemov also said the player could see out the final 12 months of his Stuttgart deal and move next summer on a free transfer instead of commanding a fee this summer.

He added: "Nothing has changed. Pavel has one more year left on his contract. Usually in this case the club would begin talks about a renewal or a sale, but Stuttgart keep silent.

"I can imagine a situation where Pavel sticks with Stuttgart until the end of his contract and moves to another team as a free agent. Any option is possible."

No idea, I wouldnt be too impressed if we signed him but I would still support him if he signed.

Most target men are useless donkeys until they do something good.

No ****........Since when does a player get a choice.

At least he wouldn't need his thermals.

Snood???????????

He's a Rusky, probably got Yaks wool boxers rubbing his gonnads.......Tough as hell them lads......

Dont know much about this lad at all, but he is 6` 2" so not huge for a target man, 27 and has 104 goals in 294 games in his career, so not exaclty prolific either..

last season he played 28 times, scored 8 goals, had 44 shots, 20 were on target and had 1 assist.
