As an SR6 lad, I can say, with no bias, that anyone who lives anywhere but Seaburn or Fullwell, lives in the wrong place.

This doesn't apply to ex-pats like.

Got to agree with this, but also include parts of Roker. You have the added benefit of being able to walk to the SOL with a few "refreshment" stops along the way! I suppose it all depends on your budget though Horden

Yeah, deffo wouldn't rule out Roker, it's canny down there now, bar a couple of streets, I used to have a place on Bede Street, should theoretically have been mint for the game, but as I'm a Seaburn lad we used to go via the Bell & The Grange anyway, so we doubled the trek, ha.

My mate bought a big old terraced house on Roker Avenue, he converted it back from self contained flats to a house, did a fantastic job, he left painting his big red front door till last, met us in the Bell that night, insisted we all went down to see his very impressive , wood panelled, red door.

Well, we did the only thing we could, we snuck back later and painted it blue, ****ing brilliant, his reaction was awesome, only wish we could have seen him actually close his door on the morning and stand in shock, rather than just go ape-**** in the pub!

That's evil, but bloody funny..:emoticon-0130-devil

if you have a few bob THE Generals Wood between Houghton -le- Spring and Washington, formerly Lord Lambtons estate, its cracking, failing that, the new houses at Philadelphia, over the reoad to shiney collage, both are nearly next to The A1 and A19, 10 mins to Sunderland, 5 to Washington, and about 8 to Durham

not football related. But we are thinking of moving back to England and Horden is not an option. It would be nice to be close to Sunderland though. Whats the best area around there nowadays as its been afew years since I have lived close by?

For that matter, what is the best area in the north east to live and why?

Easington Colliery - because its better than Horden <smooch>

Lol, that's mint MM.
Seems like we used to drink in the same places - except I was there about 10 years earlier!

Aye, Commachio is one of us too, Flying Boat, Bell, Windmills (now a vets, gutting, that's where I used to prowl for ladies, karaoke night, goldmine, sound like an injured cat but 'ooh you have to voice of an angel' taxi, winner...), The Grange, I loved Seaburn, well, Fulwell I lived, parents are still there, just opposite the methodist church.

Best bit RAW, we were clearly smashed when we did it, we'd been to a Weds night at Annabels (remember, 70's music, quid a bottle, bedlam...), he ranted, and when he calmed down 'fair play mind lads, you did a good job, nowt on the frame'

We were HOWLING, he's got us all back over time, but I'd need a week to tell them all, he's a top lad.

One payback (not for me) resulted in my mate Macca's car being stripped, lights, doors , wheels, wings the LOT.

Brilliant.

Lived in Fulwell (my dad built the detached house over the green bridge), then Roker Park Road (handy for when I used to sell programs at Roker Park as a boy), then back to Fulwell near Seaburn station. Only manage to get back up to Sunderland for the match as both my parents are long gone, but have many fond memories of all the pubs you mentioned. The Flying Boat was The Royal Marine when I first used to go there. Think it's reverted back to the name, though I haven't been in there for a few years. My niece works in The Bell!

Good stuff mate!

Flying Boat, last time I was in, broke my heart.

Gone are the multi pool tables, in crazy shapes (remember the L-shaped one, class games of killer after a few Sambuca's) to be replaced by settee's and such ****e.

Real tears I shed...

It's been emotional!

Hetton le Hole is by fay the poshest area to live. We all eat caviar for breakfast, walk around in tuxes and only drink the finest champagne. If thats too posh for you then Durham is the bee's knee's to visit but not really to live in but good and bad everywhere tbh.

They also do great drugs in Hetton by the sound of it ;-)

Albert, went to the said name for a friday nite p.ss.up and arrived home sunday nite . canny lasses..

They don't like wearing mny clothes.
I remember when we had 3 foot of snow. I went out in Welles and lasses went out in high heels and hot pants on. Oh....my word.
