It seems that the assumption that when the deal with City was announced, that agreement with Adebayor had already been reached, was not the case. Given Levy's notoriously hard bargaining stance, unless Ade's "advisors" back off with their demands, this looks like a dead duck!..
Just when I thought we were down to one major issue...
Oh well, nothing to do but wait. I've been a big Ade fan and really want him here, but as he was about to sign, I got the funny feeling he'd have an off year, maybe lose most of it to injury. So now I wouldn't mind the deal being off--if we can find a suitable replacement.

I'd prefer to wait for a club statement myself, this is just media speculation so far. I've seen nothing quoted from the player himself, just 'sources', well bollox to them, don't let em wind you up.

If he hadn't gone back to train with City, I would agree. The fact that he has, however, seems to suggest that something is not going as planned.

It's the fee that is the issue, not directly the wages. Man City will be contributing to Ade's wages next year, but we're trying to get a compromise between up front transfer fee and what % of his wage they continue paying. At the moment we haven't got this. The amount of money Adebayor will receive in total has been decided.

I said a few weeks ago that I didn't think that Ade was an AVB type of player,I don't know whether there's personality clash here also or if it is just wages. I think we should ditch him and go for others. Let's see what goes on. I would have Ade in the absence of somebody else but if I am proved right that he doesn't work with AVB then I won't be disappointed.
At leasy Ade has the inteligence to train with Citeh. He will get paid.
If Spurs have any sense they should deduct Modric all of his wages for no-show and sue him for breach of contract (liquidated damages, i.e. the full cost of an equivalent replacement) if he does not train. He has signed a contract and should honour it. If his agent didn't insist on a buy-out figure then Modric's arguement should be with his agent, not Spurs. Without a buy-out figure Levy has every right to set the amount himself.

Good point. Given how notoriously greedy most agents are, it can only be assumed that this interest from Chelsea and Real was not expected to happen. Nevertheless, as you say, that's his problem to sort out with his agent. I'm getting a little tired of his infantile tantrums now. I'm sure that his agent, with quite possibly the connivance of Real are behind all this.
Well pissed off with this. Am a big fan of Ade the player, I'll say nowt re who's in the right and wrong re the unsatisfactory saga, just that it happens to us too often. I understand why, because we have to stay in certain budgets, such a shame the new investment talked of never materialised.

Until a deal is done - and it clearly remains unresolved for reasons we can only speculate about currently - Ade remains a Citeh player as the loan period has ended and I imagine that there will be insurance implications which would surely include where he can train.
Yes, what I can't understand is, why we did not make sure that terms were acceptable to Adebayor before agreeing the fee with City? I mean we've had him for the last year, so it's not as if we haven't had the chance.
One possible explanation, of course, is that we've already agreed everything with Adebayor and City, but the deal's not being completed because of the difference in wages.
If he's going from £170k pw to £100k pw and the deal gets dragged out by a month, which sounds about right, then he's picked up an additional £280k in the meantime.
Levy's a very practical man, so I'm sure he wouldn't object.
Missing a lot of our pre-season is hardly ideal though, so this really does need to get sorted out soon, one way or the other.

agree entirely mate, which arguably adds weight to the feeling that it may not be Ade's demands that are delaying this deal.

Difficult balancing act if that is the case - and as you say, missing a significant part of the pre-season is not ideal. Would be worse if it was an entirely new player: this is more like having a player injured........
