I think it's Portland Timbers that encourage the formation of fans groups. You need a certain number of you and I don't recall it being a high number, and you get official recognition, which leads to the club listening to the needs of your individual group and helping where they can.

Of course, it could be another club that do that and I've got mixed up...:emoticon-0111-blush

Rings a bell, the stuff I've seen of them looks a bit too American.......although that will be for a very good reason !

The Portlanders possibly object to us copying. Bloody foreigners, coming here taking our logs, I bet they'd say.

It was not a worry of mine, but one expressed on here by others that I supported. HCST/CTWD at no time to my knowledge tried to do any more than provide support for the banner. The club asked to see the design, before approving it and James Mooney, came good in the end. The SMC are working with DMD and Mauled and they do not have any input on the designs on the banner. As far as I am aware the only person involved directly from the club is James Mooney.

There have been questions asked privately about the Steve Bruce banner, but these were individuals asking and they were not asking on behalf of their groups. One person was critical of the Steve Bruce banner and had an strong negative opinion regarding the Cobb Morley. Only two or three people know (as far as I am aware) who contributed to the fund and how much. The club did not ask and they would not be told. This whole subject is seen as a positive by the club, it is seen as supporters united in supporting the manager and team. It is a step in the right direction and as far as the Steve Bruce banner is concerned, the message was clear and very welcome even if the banner is not in the best spot.

The press release stated that ALL supporters groups contributed and only HCSS were named. Unfortunately because we were not able to be sure of which match the Steve Bruce banner was going to first be displayed, only the BBC were interested at the time. The Steve Bruce banner did get national coverage and it was attributed to supporters. Lessons were learnt from the media contact, don't let them ask you questions on subjects out of the blue and when they ring you back don't have your mobile on hands free (the echo makes it hard work.

So now the plan is to go with the 6 x 4 flags. Is that so you don't have to deal with the club?
This was a great chance to rebuild the bridges between fans and club and yet it seems to have caused more grief not less.

Hardly grief at all. Just one person asking the same questions and not accepting the answers.

The 6'X4' suggestion is for several reasons, none of which should be seen as due to problems with the club, far from it.

At the moment, the simple fact is that there's nowhere suitable to hang the banners, but the club are keen for that to happen.

In the interim, the 6'x4' offer a practical solution that opens up other options, such as more flags and more locations, including at away games.

Believe me, if there's a problem, I'm quite prepared to say so, but that has to be balanced with positive comments when they're deserved too.

Bridges have been built never mind rebuilt. The Steve Bruce banner did not start with a particular size in mind. It sort of evolved into the size it is now, because of the money.

Before the season ends, could we have a City Legends day at a home game. This would have at least something to link the flags to

Couldn't miss a chance to have a dig at Fez could you.
He has made some valid points.
This all started last year, the club knew about it before the first flag was made, and now we are talking about flags 6 x 4 which could have been done from the start without any contact with the club. Oh and would have been on show for the new years day game.

It's not a dig. It's a direct response to the point you raised.

Yep, we could have had 6'x4' for the first banner, but that isn't what people wanted. We've been given two spots in the ground, at the moment there are no more available.

As a way of keeping things going, as well as giving us options, the 6'x4' provide options.

At the end of the day, the board decides.
