I think Byrne needs to either resign or be sacked. The sooner the better imo. She`s been a poor choice from day one. A series a bad decisions particularly managerial appointments (the mad italian a prime example). Lurching from one mess to the next. Short needs to actually do something instead of leaving the running of the club to somebody who can`t bloody do the job. Now we have this (another badly handled) Johnson thing. Terrible judgement again.

On the subject of Johnson I don`t think anyone would argue he`s been an idiot and deserves a custodial sentence. However, for those who are arguing he should never play again, should be castrated and all the rest of it. He is not a rapist, he is not a violent man and nowhere near in the same league as the *****phile gangs of Rochdale and all the others.

Just my personal opinion and having me bit say.

That first paragraph could so easily have the words Byrne swapped for Charnley and Short swapped for Ashley.

Regardless of the rights and wrongs of what happened back in May of last year, the way she has handled things is bringing unwanted attention to your club from outside of football and within (more from outside). The longer her silence continues on the accusations that have come out since the club released the statement then the more harm she is doing. I feel sorry for Allerdyce (never thought I'd say that) for being left to handle the questions when it should be her dealing with this.

Absolutely. She`s buggered off to Portugal or somewhere now apparently. Abrogating responsibility like that is cowardly imo. It certainly isn`t helping.

If she`s hoping to wait it out until it dies down, I`m not sure it will.

Yet another poor decision. She`s certainly stacking them up.

I agree 100%.

There are questions that need answered. The answer to all of those questions may well vindicate both her and Sunderland, though I doubt anyone outside of her immediate circle within the club was aware of anything even if she was. Not answering them is not helping anyone. That's the point I was trying to make the other night on the thread on your board, but I think my presence there was causing more harm than good, so my points were getting lost.

He has not been an idiot, saying that he was an idiot implies a level of foolishness or naivety when in fact he was calculating and fully aware of what he intended, he is a determined sexual predator, a child sex predator and no he should not play football again, which subject to the length of the prison sentence will preclude him from doing so.

He'll not play football again even if he out of prison in time because no club would give him a contract. He'll lose a lot of his fitness and ability anyway and age will have caught up with him. His career is over.

In the real world where most of us live, if the Police turn up at your place of work and notify your Employer with evidence that so and so has been accused of being a Child Molester, had groped her as a bare minimum and groomed that said Child (who just happens to be one your customers) for full on sex, I think we all know what would have happened.

FFS, are some people so naïve - what do they think was going on with 800+ Texts as evidence.
Just think, any SAFC fans with daughters attending matches, that could have been your child the next time.

Ok, some SAFC fans will defend the club to the hilt, shout it from the rooftops and that the Club did nothing wrong - sorry, but that's just bullshit, you really need to take the blinkers off. SAFC turned a blind eye as it suited them, and we all the reason for that - they needed the Child Molester on the pitch as they were staring relegation in the face.

As for him being an Idiot, please take the time to understand what he actually did and come to grips with the simple fact as BTK has said earlier, he is a Determined Sexual Predator, who had moved onto younger girls.

In the real world the police would not be turning up at people's place of work.

You are so naïve, you really should get a grip on reality.

Not naive at all. If he was thought to be a danger to the public it would have been the police who would have remanded him in custody. In this country we have a long standing tradition of being presumed innocent until proven otherwise. Sunderland AFC made the decision to lift his suspension after being given advice from the PFA and lawyers. They then sacked him as soon as it became clear that he had pleaded guilty to some of the charges.
It is only a witch hunt instigated by the media that is trying to distort these facts..

The police have a legal obligation to speak to the employers (whoever they are) and share what information they have as soon as possible in cases like this, if there is any possibility of your work bringing you into contact with under18s or vulnerable people.

However, before we get carried away throwing stones at Sunderland, we should remember that it is only the actions of one person that are raising any sort of questions (apart from AJ), Margaret Byrne. If this had been a Newcastle player involved then we would have been relying on Lee Charnley to decide Newcastle's actions and reputation. A scarey thought!!

Were Newcastle United informed when it had became clear that one of your players had made a girl pregnant whilst she was only 13 years old?

I have no idea. As far as I am aware, the allegations never went beyond a newspaper article rather than the police being involved, and the player involved was himself a child at the time. I may be wrong though.

Nope...He was over 16 at the time..

So still a minor then.

I don't know the law in Senegal beyond being aware that the age of consent is 16 through posts on here. I do know that here the law here differentiates between someone under 18 and someone over 18 in terms of the offence they have committed in cases like this. That doesn't take away from the fact that things like this should be investigated if they come to light. Young people need to be aware of the consequences of having sex, and the life changing consequences at that.

However, without a police investigation, there is very little the club can do anyway.

Well without being classed as a danger from the police and both lawyers and the PFA advising Sunderland that they should lift his suspension, then surely that also applies to Sunderland..

That is the bit that is still uncertain and the bit that is raising questions that MB should be answering, rather than leaving SA to face the questions.

There is also the added case of bigamy I believe.

Not another Mackem ****er with his/her head in the sand, having a hissy fit and stamping their feet, screaming 'Stop Picking on Us'.
