There is a massive distinction. If he had done something with a 10 year old then hanging would be too good for him. I remember a certain Graham Rix had sex with a 15 year old a few years ago. He was much older than Johnson. The age will mean that he won't get a massive sentence. But, he did know her age and that is a major aggravating factor.

Meeting a lass in a nightclub is indeed unfortunate especially as we all know it's bloody hard to tell how old lasses are these days. AJ's case is totally different tho as he's accused of (and has admitted to) grooming which as someone on here has already eluded to, implies a pre-meditated act...whether or not he actually knew she was underage I guess no-one will ever know unless she's come out and told him in a text message or whatever and the authorities can get hold of said messages. I suspect that she probably told him she was older otherwise he most likely wouldn't have had sex with her. If he had told the club that he's innocent and now he's pleading guilty then that in itself should be grounds enough for them to terminate his contract....regardless of the outcome of the trial.

I write this as a father and as a fan, not just of nufc but as a fan of football.. personally I can't blame safc fans for backing him, we would do the same if it was one of our players or even family members (if they had said they were not guilty ).BUT now he's admitted guilt surely no one can defend him. Hes admitted it so deserves to rot in my opinion. It's not just safc rep that has been tarnished it's footballs in general.

Well done safc fans that have said they don't want him at their club, he should be sacked and rot in jail etc

So I remember this being on a documentary somewhere (as we've all gone serious-ish) and the term is Ephebophilia. AJ's an Ephebo. I think anyone putting him in the same bracket as some child rapist is really, woefully ignorant on it. What he has done is categorically wrong - if it were my daughter I'd kneecap the fcker - but I'm of the mind there's "levels" of wrong and he's not a child molesting *****.

I got to be honest, in my younger, clubbing days, there were girls getting into a nightclub that you'd end up copping off with and some of them were 14, 15 years old, comfortably. Not sure it's as prevalent because clubbing ain't wot it used to be, mate.

It's for that reason that if he'd met her in a club in a one-off situation I'd have had some sympathy for him. I know when I was in my 20s in the 80s/90s there wasn't anywhere near the level of checking Id's that there is now. I don't think I've ever copped off with anyone under 18 that I've met in a club, but it's impossible to know for sure.

That has got to be wrong. I mean, forget the crime for a second, half your age plus seven makes that a nonsense!

If you take a guy in his early/mid 20s, add in girls who look 19/20 and a bit of drink, and it used to happen all the time. No idea what it's like now though as I've reached the age where getting lucky means it's not raining when I pop down to the shops :(

The only crime here is the maths.I meant when I was 19.

Anyway, problem with aj is he then groomed another. The pre meditation is more than enough to warrant the ***** tag, I'm afraid.
