Sunderland.
He seems to be having a dig at the England set up by stating that he has been overlooked for England because he is not in a top eight team.
In an article in the Northern Echo, he goes on to say that he got all his England caps when playing for Man City despite spending most of the time on the bench, and then gets overlooked when playing for Sunderland even though he is a first team regular who had the best spell of his career in January and February..
I certainly think he has a point..

Hi problem is that England have a lot of talented wingers now, Sterling, Chamberlin, Townsend, Rodriguez, Lennon. Plus Hodgeson loves Milner. Its going to be very difficult for Johnson to get a game. Lets face it he has had 3 or 4 really good games for us and loads of bad ones so its going to take a bit more for him to get an England spot.

He does have a bit of a point though because players like Cleverly who are bang out of form and not getting a first team stat for their club still get picked

I don,t think he ever played 90 mins always started and took off or came on as a sub late on and I guess Shearer and that lump of ****e Heskey, wouldn,t pass to him did not help

Johnson has been far better than either of the bold ones (and Milner) over recent times - he is also playing regularly.

Christ Tom Cleverley got in the last squad and he was awful all season for Utd - Cattermole & Colback have been far far better than him this season - not that I'm saying they should play for England - but they cetrtainly should be considered ahead of Cleverley.

As I said before, Form is temporary, Class is permanent, but as long as you play for a top side you don;t need either to get into the England side!

Oh and I'm sure Ashley Young has played for England this season.....

Just take out the word 'talented' mate and you are spot on.

Has a point? He's bang on Raw. <ok>

Don't give about **** about England because I know they don't ever stand a chance of winning anything because they won't pick form players. Yet another England coach is doing it. Makes you wonder who is actually pulling the strings in the selection process.

Is there any link between Johno being overlooked for the England squad and him not scoring? He went on a goal-scoring run, then didn't get in the squad, and hasn't scored since?

Has his head gone down a bit? Or is it just coincidence?

His form has dipped a bit, and it does make you wonder about attitude and commitment, for such a talented individual his contribution is very patchy no matter what he says.

Yes, whether he has a point or not is matterless in his case.
I just wish he'd get his head down & concentrate on his club form.

Cleverley is the defining one, United fans slate him cos he's ****, and he gets picked.

I mean for **** sake man, he literally is a pile of ****e, it's a scandal that he could get picked.

He has a point, absolutely. Cleverley, Townsend, Milner, Young, Sterling to name but a few shouldn't be considered.

But if he really wants to make a point/name for himself he needs to do more than a 2 month magic spell.

The point of Johnson being picked when at City is that he was more effective when coming on for last half hour in most games and in some cases changing the course of the game. Doing it for 90 minutes is a different demand which he has not always met.
