Blimey, this was one hell of a way to bow out Sadly, Gord Downie was diagnosed with terminal cancer beginning of 2016. He went to the Dr's after a seizure he attributed to fatigue and the flu. To his credit, instead of sitting around waiting to die he and his band went on tour so he could say goodbye to his fans. Incredibly, their final gig was aired live last August by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and was shown on CBC Television, CBC Radio One, CBC Radio 2, CBC Music and YouTube. It was streamed live to countless venues and cities throughout the Canada. Also all live streams showed the 3 hour concert in its entirety and uninterrupted by any advertisements. The tour was supposed to be a simply farewell and thank you to the fans but the final Gig turned into something extraordinary as 11.7 Million Canadians came to the party to say goodbye This was his last song. Fekkin amazing. Keep on fighting buddy
