I have never been nor will I ever be embarrassed about talking about my beloved Saints! To suggest we should not get involved with a comparison discussion of our still new and our old manager is asking rather a lot. Simply because of the way the majority of fans felt about NA and still do. Human nature being what it is people just do not switch off just like that. I would respectfully suggest to the OP if he finds a post that is discussing the difference again that it would be easy just to not join in. After all his plea has almost turned into just that a discussion about the two managers.
Everyone I know(including myself) loves to be told what to do. So now you've bought this up I'm sure this compare the managers thing will never ever get discussed again.
Do we think the players understand MP's Spanish better than NA's posh scouse? Funnily enough, most people on here were a bit taken aback by Nigel's departure. It is equally apparent that we have been won over by the style of football played now, and by the support that MP gets from key players. Jay Rodriguez is a case in point. Unlike some of our past managers, we feel no animosity towards NA. He has left us feeling sorry for him, and the general feeling seems to be that everyone wishes him well - after today. When we are playing in the Prem next year and Reading in the Championship we'll stop the musing I think. In the meantime, it is surely harmless.
How on earth does it make us sound like fools? The fact that so many people do it shows that its an interesting topic. Obviously its all conjecture but so what? What about all the transfer rumour threads we get, talk about conjecture? Oh and by the way, I sometimes think of girlfriends from 30 years ago and wonder...........
I hope that is not your definitive list as you have left out some interesting characters. The Dynamic Dutch Duo, the other Nigel, the Dubious Duo (aka The Cockney Kids), the Scots pair, Stuart Grey, there have been so many I am struggling to remember them all. We had exciting times with Chris Nicholl, I loved WGS, Lawrie was magnificent, Our Nigel (Adkins that is) gave us wonderful times and great football, Pochettino has still to prove himself so it has to be Ted for me.
I think it's high time that everyone gave into their embarrassment about comparing the two. Clearly, Pochesttino is the stronger tactician although I do miss Nigel's positivity. I would wonder whether the players are as performances have stepped up a gear since the change in management.
Well yes, for sure. I do think as a group they're responding better to the tactical nous that they, more than anyone, can see and feel than the sometimes slightly cringeworthy positivity.
True! I do almost feel it is too early to compare as MP could just be building on the upsurge in form that started under Nigel. I think next season will show how good a manager he truly is.
