Maybe there is more at play here.
Back when I joined the cops in 1995 the force I joined had just changed its logo. Up until then most police forces had a similar sort of badge which was generally the county symbol with a crown on top. My (now old) force redesigned the logo and it was unaffectionally referred to as ‘the beer mat’. Turns out it was designed by the son of a high ranking member of the force and he was allegedly paid well for his design. Everyone was up in arms about it.
Anyway, it was later suggested that this may have been a premeditated move by the force as apparently it was haemorrhaging cash and substantial savings had to be made. So, a diversionary tactic (the beer mat) came along, keeping the rank and file upset and talking about a badge whilst behind the scenes budgets were being cut and very unpopular decisions, should they be made common knowledge at that time, were being made.
Is Kier Starmer and his government capable of this sort of duplicity? They’re politicians, so make your own mind up!! Remember 9/11 and “this could be a good day to bury bad news”?
But if you really want to know how bad the government are, you can kill a cyclist, and I’m sure the lady here in question certainly didn’t go out that day with that specific intention, and get a nine month suspended, but write hurty words on the internet and you go to prison for two years. But when the man in charge used to be in charge of the CPS is it any wonder?

I'd like to say they are as bad as each other but in this case she is worse.

Polling expert Prof Sir John Curtice has spoken to Radio 4's Today programme - claiming Keir Starmer has "never been a popular leader", and has "two weaknesses".
"He's never been very successful at doing what George Bush called the vision thing," he says.
"What is the Labour Party for, what his government trying to achieve, what kid of Britain does he want... that lack of narrative is being exposed."
Curtice also says Starmer has "not always had a strong political antenna, and that's been exposed in the last week or two".
He says it's far too early to rule out a second Labour term after the next general election. But he says "what we've seen in the last few weeks is perhaps not surprising".

I know one thing for certain is that he would not DARE call a general election now even though he has just won one , this is amazing how quickly the public have turned against him and the Labour Party .
I remember back before the Tories got in and most on here were convinced they were going to slash Benefits and hammer the pensioners. I can’t remember one post afterwards complaining.

Some of the previous Tory governments were a disaster. We all know that. Liz Truss etc.
However, on their way out, Jeremy Hunt, did stabilise the economy and put us on a much stronger footing. Labour have undone all that in an instant.
I wonder how many pensioners die because of this cruel policy and I wonder how many suicides happen once they slash peoples sickness benefits.

Just park that statement for a moment.
I’ve mentioned the following before, so apologies for those who’ve heard it, but there is an update at the end.
At the end of 2014, David Cameron and George Osborne (Conservative Party) visited ( for probably the only time), Northumberland ( gen election not that far away). With big smiles they banked their browny points on the strength of agreeing the dualling of the A1 from Morpeth to Ellingham (a colossal thirteen miles). It would be ready to drive on in 6 years and the £290m for it had been allocated and set aside and was sitting in a biscuit tin on the top shelf, ready to be spent when work would start.
Well the moon waxed and the moon waned , the seasons came and went, and 6 years later , the same govt were still constantly picking fault with the planning. A further 3 years of the same, perhaps they hoped it would be forgot about. But in early 2024 hero of the hour Rishi Sunak ( Conservative Party) visits Northumberland ( for probably the only time ) ( gen election approaching ) and with huge smiles says he has single handedly given the go ahead for work commencement. !
First batch of his Browny points please. Second batch is because this is a perfect example of us giving money from the HS2 cancellation to fund such a project.. Well that was a lie wasn’t it Rishi- but if you want to say absolutely yes - HS2 money was going to pay, then perhaps you could confirm what became of the £290m pounds in the biscuit tin. ?
Any road up (pardon pun), here’s the punch line. The Labour Party (remember Sir Keir at the top of the post) have just abandoned the dualling because now there’s no money. Other pending north east projects have also been thrown in the bin.
