I know this is completely random but: Does anyone know "Wally" who used to work for Iceland on Spring Bank (he must be about 40 now)? His real name might have been Richard Walgate. I remember him telling me the name of the tune back in 88/89 but I can't remember what he said it was called. He used to go to LAs etc at that time and they will have played it there.
Thanks everyone. I texted (me) singing the tune to a DJ mate who was away in France. He suggested "Hear the drummer get wicked" which helped me then find that the song I originally thought of was...... 900 number by The 45 King http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DJ_Mark_the_45_King and on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axJpBlxW6n0&feature=related
Nothing to do with the thread - just thought I'd liven it up a bit!
Which in turn was sampled from Marva Whitney's "Unwind Yourself" http://www.whosampled.com/sample/view/1859/The 45 King-The 900 Number_Marva Whitney-Unwind Yourself/
Interesting that at the time the mystery track was around I was going to Romeos Monday Rock Night and was much more into Black Betty etc than club music.
