I only just saw this Sunday afternoon so please accept my apolgies for the lateness of this post. At ii:45 tomorrow morning, I should be just about arriving back in Toronto from a weekend away but I will do my level best to stop what I'm doing and spare some time to think about Dave Each year at Remembrace Day my choir gives a performance about the first and seconnd world wars and we sing amongst other pieces a setting for "In Remembrance" that Staines printed in an earlier post/another thread. I lost a mate to a heart attck on Nov 11/04 in the office and I have always tried to honour him when we get to that piece. from now on, I also will be thinking about Dave although as with many here, I never met him. I had a sit down at 11.45 and thought of Brix and family. Hope it passed peacefully today. Rest well my friend.
I had a few quiet moments of reflection just before midday as well. It is amazing where your mind wanders to during those moments, mine went to a conversation David and I had about whether "This World of R's" required an apostrophe. Was it just the plural of R, an abbreviation of Rangers or a substitution of ours? Why that particular memory surfaced I will never know. RIP David
I also had a quiet moment yesterday before noon. I sat and reflected on my all too brief but memorable times of knowing Brix. The first time I met him was probably my most memorable. I was in the Coningham Arms before the Stoke game last season with Roller and Norway ( Norway Jr. ) We were chatting away just inside the doorway adjacent to Uxbridge Rd when Roller said, '' Hold on, there's my mate Dave. Let me drag him in. '' In stepped this bloke, he looked me in the eye and said, '' Your Ninesy ain't ya? '' '' Yes. '' I replied. '' Do you post on the board as well then? '' It was Roller who revealed the mystery man's true identity to Norway and I, and it's thanks to him that I had the good fortune and pleasure of meeting the great man. We then chatted on the way to the ground like long lost brothers. I was lucky to meet up with Dave on a further five occasions, mainly with our other fellow board members. I wish you well Pat and Deon, I'm also pleased that I got to meet both of you. I hope you cherish the happy memories of David, and that they bring you great comfort and solace.
