****ed mate, I’ve just stood at the foot of our bed while the wife reads her book and said SUNDERLAND LEAGUE ****ING 1 For about 5 minutes in some kind of state of shock - I followed it by saying we’ll most likely slip through the next trapdoor aswell, she looked up from her book and nodded
If you ask Aston Villa if they have given up on automatic promotion they'll rightly say they'll keep playing until it's mathematically impossible. Last year we were 7 points behind Brighton with 3 games to go. We finished a point above them. Never give up, support the team and let them know you think they can do it as they may not be feeling it themselves.
I've already made my peace with going down again and I'm not that bothered anymore. What I am bothered about is Short ****ing off because when he does that's our chance to rebuild properly. Until then we're so all over the place it's almost comical.
Surprised how many people have still been clinging on. Admire your spirit and hope. Bigger things on my plate than involving my emotions in that yank **** dragging us down. Season ticket the second Short has gone and not until. This is where I stand.
I wonder what Short's opinion is on this relegation as (in his interview a few months back) he said that anything less than 7th or 8th in the premier league constitutes failure
Until a couple of seasons ago I was adamant that you had the better owner. I think he used to be emotionally invested in Sunderland and wanted to see it work but that he gave up after being let down by people he thought could do a job for him. Ashley is a twat but he has always put the financial viability of the club first and whilst it's frustrating for fans it does have it's positives I guess. Now Short just has no interest in his toy and doesn't even seem bothered it's going to the wall. I haven't given up hope the team can somehow cobble together a 21st place finish though, the other clubs around are terrible but it's going to need 10+ points from 9 games which does look bleak given the season so far. We're not talking about playing like Man City here though - play like Millwall and Fulham have in the last couple of months or even Hull in the last couple of weeks and you'd be fine.
That old chestnut, he can make excuses and pass the book until the the cows come. He's spunked £200M+ of his own cash away cause he didn't know what he's doing.
