Star Trek was always better. By light years, in fact.

Can you score each of the characters performances out of 10 and then tell us why you think Jack Colback shouldnt be anywhere near another Star Wars film.

Haven’t seen it but I know for a fact Joselu was **** and Diane should never appear in a Star Wars movie ever again. Unless Rafa directs then he’ll be in the next one.

I don't think the Rey's parentage story is necessarily over with. It was just Kylo telling her that, although that said I would say that that will probably be the end of it. It was a perfectly reasonable storyline (or 'arc' as people have now taken to saying) when you consider it in the context of the ending of the film that rebels and force users come from nothing - i.e. the young lad with the broom at the end. It was mostly fans who were making all this parentage/lineage stuff up trying to join the dots and it's kind of funny that the writers just snuffed it all out. It was exactly the same with Snoke (he's Darth Sideous, he's Darth Plagueis, he's Mace Windu, etc, etc, etc.).

Luke was a bit of a wimp, I agree, until the end.

My main criticism of the film is it didn't need certain elements and characters which I felt complicated the story and upset the flow of the film a bit - I will have to see it again to be sure about what I am saying. It didn't need Yoda, it didn't need the ugly English woman on the rebel ship, or even Laura Dern tbh. Did it really even need the Rose character? Or Maz Kanata? I'm not sure it needed the bit where they went off to the casino to find a code breaker, or need Benicio Del Toro, or need the creatures they freed (except for it setting up the ending with the kid). It certainly didn't need Leia floating in space then using the force to drift back to the ship. That was certainly a WTF moment.

Normally I dislike the efforts to make jokes in Star Wars films but they got a few of the gags right in this one. I'm not sure about the dodgy phone reception bit at the start, although I did laugh a bit, but the gag with the ironing was good. I forget the others right now. Ep 7 was full of smart-arse one-liners, mostly from Finn which I thought were cringe-worthy, but it was all done a bit better in Ep 8.

Action-wise, the fighting in space was good and the fight with the Knights of Ren was pretty awesome. Visually I didn't have any problems with the film and in certain parts it really shined.

I liked the way the 'new' central characters were developed in this movie. Kylo, Rey and Finn were all better in Ep 8 than in Ep 7. Snoke they should have built up a bit more of a story about, but I think there may be some sort of spin off in the future which could fill in the blanks.

So plusses and minuses for me. Probably a 7 or 8 out of 10 but like I say I need to see it again to make up my mind about it.

Oh yeah, the Luke/Rey training moment with her 'reaching out' was a good gag.

Sorry only read the last line and only then because it was a quiet wet Sunday.

Is it worth sitting through it again to decide whether it was a 7 or 8. Don’t you have Christmas shopping or something to do.

Sorry but I definitely disagree. How this can be excused -

    - They made the mystery of the first movie all about Rey. She's this powerful girl from a random planet that is able to master the force incredibly quickly, and we're left to wonder who her parents are, how is she so powerful?? They made that poor girl Daisy pour her heart out to show some sort of emotional depth to this character, all for it to be almost completely disregarded in this movie. I gave a sh*t about Rey in the force awakens, in this movie, I no longer care about her at all. All that build up to find out that she's just the offspring of two random arseholes who left her.... and that's it? No explanation as to why she's so powerful. Little to no development in her character, just she's strong with the force and a Random girl pulled out of the writer's arsehole.

If they were just going to do this to her, why put so much emphasis on the character in the first movie, making her seem like she'd be the main character and the next big thing, only to make her like a side character in this movie? We LITERALLY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT HER, other than she's just this random girl. Now the audience is left with a lack of reason to give a crap about her. Why build her up just to make her nothing?

    - Snoke. Again, all this build up.... He's this mysterious dark force user with the power to manipulate everyone's minds and fling around people with the force at will. We know literally nothing about his past, why he did what he did, and he just dies in an absolutely ridiculous way. Again, questions left unanswered because they obviously don't give a ****. Again, just a Random ALIEN/HUMAN? Pulled out of the writers arshole, and oohh... it doesn't matter that his story makes no sense and he just popped out of thin air.. he looked cool and fills a gap that we can't be arsed to full explain, and then he dies.

    - Kylo Ren. The main bad guy in a star was trilogy is supposed to be mysterious and/or intimidating. Kylo Ren is basically just another emo kid like Anakin, and now he's the main bad guy? Just some stupid brat with no discipline? And on top of that, we didn't really get any insight as to how he was corrupted, just that Snoke happened to come along, see his darkness and manipulate him.... and that's it..... As if this is supposed to be some sort of big revelation, but we knew this from the Force Awakens!!!! There's no real development in his character. He's no descended or ascended further or closer to the darkness or the light. He's dark but not quite dark enough to kill his own mother. Just this torn stroppy kid with no guts to tear himself away from the dark or the light.

    - NO LIGHTSABER DUEL. I know he had the stuff with the knights of ren, but they were kind of disappointing. Rey and Kylo just whooped their arses in 2 minutes. That's not good enough. With a SW movie you expect one duel with two people wieling a lightsaber, because if you make them duel some assassins or knights with, again, no back story, there's no tension between the people involved in the fight, no emotions, no complex conflict. I thought we'd get that with Luke and Kylo, but literally a few swings of a saber and "oh I'm just an illusion in your mind, and I was just stalling for time lol. Trolled kid, k see ya and yeah btw Imma just go ahead and die now".

    - The main point - This movie is not a Star Wars movie for Star Wars fans. It does a terrible job at fleshing out characters stories or just completely shows disinterest in it. It did not feel like a Star Wars movie at all, it just felt like a stupid Disney film that the average pop-corn flick lover will enjoy. We had burning questions that were just completely discarded as unimportant or answered in a really poor, lazy way. All they will do is add cute little fuzzy animals and explosions to the movie and make it appeal to the average movie goer, make cash and then piss off.

THIS IS NOT AN EXCUSE - We may find out more in another movie. Sorry, but that excuse worked with The Force Awakens, now we're almost 5 hours into a trilogy and 2 movies in, and we're still left with little progression in some of the characters story lines or just poor, lazy answers to burning questions.

    Kylo was Lying to Rey.
We will find out in ep 9 that she is a Skywalker.
Chewbaccas hair looked a bit over hair sprayed... that’s my biggest gripe.
The puzzle for me is how Leia dies in Ep9. They will have to do it quick otherwise it will be cgi all the way.
They should have let her die in space.

I’d deffo still pump Rey too. She seemed to have a vice like grip on that half of a saber.

Diame is the worlds biggest ****, so in Star Wars terms he would be the **** who says "two fighters against a star destroyer?" in Empire Strikes Back and gets completely ignored by Leia.

Any Star Wars fan knows this character and how much of a colossal **** he is, and Diame is alongside him in the **** stakes.

Think there will be a passage of time between this and the next movie and they'll have to have Leia die in between.

You are probably right. The Rebels need to rebuild their fleet and armaments which will or course take several years at least.
They can cover a lot of it off in the opening scrawl.
They have a perfect opportunity to kill Leia off by saying she succumbed to her 'space' injuries over a period of time.
