I was moved to Mansfield around 9 years old and watched them until I was old enough to start going to watch Sunderland. I'd get the service bus to Forest or Rotherham but still went to Stags if our games were too far away. Once I reached 15 I started hitching to Sunderland and virtually stopped going to Mansfield. I still go, if I can, but it was only ever a stopgap in all honesty.

Saw some great games including an FA Cup 3-0 thrashing of First Division West Ham, with Brooking playing, and a Second Division 3-3 against Spurs with Hoddle in their side.

Always followed Man Utd (since the early 80s) because my best mate’s parents were Utd as was he. He came to Roker with my family and SAFC were his second team and I went to old Trafford with his family around 10 games a season and followed Utd as mine. Utd are my son’s team now apparently (although he has a season card for the lads) so they are still my second team

God a fondness for Gillingham as my dad’s originally from Rochester but moved to Whitburn as a kid so is red and white really, we go to a few away days a year when they’re up north, nice watching a game as a neutral now and then
