Fashion and make-up designer Dame Mary Quant, credited with some of the most iconic fashion looks of the 1960s including the mini skirt, has died aged 93.

A statement from her family said she "died peacefully at home in Surrey, UK this morning". It continued: “Dame Mary, aged 93, was one of the most internationally recognised Fashion Designers of the 20th Century and an outstanding innovator of the Swinging Sixties.”

Sheffield United legend Eddie Colquhoun has died at the age of 78.

The Scot made 433 appearances in central defence for the Blades between 1968 and 1978.

"He was a real stalwart here and I think the fans could relate to the way he played," said current boss Paul Heckingbottom.

"There'll be a lot of fans at the game [on Tuesday against Bristol City] who will have watched him and he'll have been one of their favourite players."

Colquhoun, who represented Scotland nine times, ended his career in America after leaving Bramall Lane but returned to South Yorkshire after retiring.

His grandson is Rotherham United midfielder Ben Wiles.

Former NFL star Chris Smith has died, he was 31.

Smith, who was a former defensive lineman for the Cleveland Browns, spent eight years in the NFL and played for multiple teams including the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Cincinnati Bengals and the Las Vegas Raiders.

His cause of death was not immediately known.

On social media, tributes poured in for the former player.

"Chris was one of the kindest people, teammates and friends we've had in our organization," the Browns team wrote on Twitter.

Smith began his NFL career in 2014 when he was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars as a defensive lineman. But his personal life was marred by tragedy. In 2019, his girlfriend Petara Cordero was killed in a car accident just weeks after giving birth to their child.

Harry Belafonte, the singer and actor who smashed racial barriers in the US, has died at home in Manhattan, aged 96.

One of the most successful African-American pop stars in history, he scored hits with Island In The Sun, Mary's Boy Child and the UK number one Day-O (The Banana Boat Song).

But his greatest achievements were as a campaigner for black civil rights in the US.

He died of congestive heart failure, said his spokesman Ken Sunshine.

He was at Number One at Christmas 1957 with Mary's Boy Child when I was born.

Tim Bachman, the guitarist and vocalist of Canadian rock band Bachman-Turner Overdrive, has died at 71.

The musician's death was confirmed by his son, Paxton Bachman.
