He always looked good whenever I saw him. Quick, strong, powerful and not afraid to put himself about. Granted I only saw him a few times.
No. He's just equalled a 50 year goalscoring record in Serie A. I'm sure Juve would've loved to pay less, but that was his release clause and ADL said he wouldnt take a penny less. Which other scorers who have equalled a half century of goals scored in one season one of the continents major leagues could Juve sign? The difference is Higuain has done it for years. Vardy has had 1 good season. If a striker playing in the Premier League had scored 71 goals goals in 104 games, after being signed from Real Madrid where he'd scored 107 goals in 109 games, everyone would **** about him. The only reason they don't is because he doesnt.
Higuain scored 107 in 190 games at Madrid (every half decent striker has a similar record for them). Higuain has made 30+ goals in a league season for the first time in his career and he's 28. Harry Kane has scored 30+ and he's 22 and ****.
The key point is, in Italy nobody has scored more goals in one season in 50 years. If John Stones costs £50m, Higuain is worth £500m.
Once Koeman, or Guardiola, knocks the showboating and Cruyff turning out of his game he'll grow into one of the best defenders this country has ever produced ..... it's a shame Martinez couldn't do it, he'd mebbe still be in a ****in' job.
I 100% mean it. If Stones gets sold for that price, in a year's time he and City will be a laughing stock and Walsh will have found a better replacement for a fraction of the price.
But you do understand the reality of the English transfer market, ages, nationalities, club and every other difference in transfers? John Stones will be an unbelievable centre half with correct coaching. That isn't to say he should be going for 50m but you're ignoring every single difference when you say "If John Stones is worth this then X must be worth X" The last English Centre half with Stones' calibre and age went for 30m 14 years ago.
Yeah he only won however many Premier Leagues, FA Cups, England Caps, Champions Leagues and god knows what else...
