On the other hand.................

http://readwestbrom.com/2016/08/25/rodriguez-loan-move-unlikely/

According to the Birmingham Mail, Jay Rodriguez is looking likely to join Hull on a season-long loan, as opposed to West Brom.
The report says that Burnley have not agreed a deal with Southampton, but Hull are looking likely.
West Brom. were thought to be closing in on the signing of Rodriguez, but this looks unlikely now.
Rodriguez is currently fourth choice striker at Southampton, with Shane Long, Charlie Austin and Nathan Redmond all ahead of him in the pecking order.
This has led to very limited game time, with Tony Pulis now looking to bring him to the Hawthorns – where he would get far more minutes in the Premier League. However, he now looks set for this at Hull, instead.
The 27-year-old still has three years left on his contract and Claude Puel sees him as part of his long-term plan at Southampton. However, they want the forward to get some regular game time to build his fitness and form.

I hate it when journalists write articles like this. There is a statement made but nothing in terms of evidence to support it. they just repeat facts about his contract, career stats and clubs linked instead of stating he is likely to join hull because ............... and not west brom because ................. Just lazy Journalism.

I think he's thinking long term, West Brom might not play the most attractive football, but they've been solid for years. We, on the other hand, are still a basket case despite the results and as a newly promoted team would represent a risk.
He's only coming as a loan player for **** sake. There might be an option to purchase depending what happens at the end of the season.

West Bromwich Albion are set to ramp up interest in Southampton's Jay Rodriguez to ward off interest from Premier League rivals Hull City.

The Baggies are in advanced talks with the Saints over a potential season-long loan deal for the 27-year-old striker.

The Tigers are on the prowl, but the Birmingham Mail understands Albion are prepared to offer the player improved terms.

It's thought West Brom are now favourites to snap up Rodriguez and that a deal could be struck by the weekend.

It appears there has been definite progress since Tuesday when Tony Pulis sounded less than confident of landing the England international.

"I'm not sure, we'll have to wait and see," Pulis said after the EFL Cup defeat at Northampton.

This suggests they've offered him better terms.

Just because it's a loan doesn't change the fact that this season will be massive for him. He has been told he's part of Puel's plans in the future, so he'll need to make a good impression in order to get into Saint's side. It's not all about how good we are, if WBA offer him a better deal for him and his family, he'll go there.

We have 19.5 hours to get a player signed on the dotted line to allow them to play on Saturday, i cant see jay rod being signed up in time even if we do sign him as he will have to hear from both clubs before making a choice, Nikolic is dead in the water so no chance there, possibly Micah Richards but would have heard some development by now. Who could we potentially have signed up to play against united?

Is Ebenezer good?

Hull City are one of three Premier League clubs chasing Ghana international Ebenezer Ofori according to reports.

Bah humbug.

The AIK Stockholm midfielder admits he has received a number of offers and is weighing up a move to England. However, getting a work permit may prove difficult for the 21-year-old and would scupper any possible transfer.

West Brom and Sunderland have been tracking Ofori with the possibility of a move. In 2013, Ofori made his debut against Manchester United in a friendly and has gone on to score three times in 91 games for the Swedish side.

Basically, we haven't signed anybody 3 games into the season. So much for Phelan's "big week".

I just think they say things in the media to try and push the owners to act. We probably have no active bids in players and are not even contacting clubs or agents regarding players availability. I dont believe this whole thing about the owners wont buy players because they are selling the club. its not allams personal money. If somebody was buying a printing company, you would still expect the printers to buy paper and ink in order to keep producing, same goes for a football team. they dont need to put personal money into the club as they will be able to finance the deals of the money the club has in the bank plus the fact most transfers are funded long term in installments and add ons.

Yep this is ridiculous now.

As frustrating as it is, if we are genuinely in for players then we'll more than likely be at the behest of the nature of the window. Decent players need replacing, so it'll probably be dependent upon replacements being signed (like Soton signing the Maroc forward) then us beating off the competition (I think this will be even harder until someone actually signs for us).

I had a stream of SSN on this afternoon in the background. Not watched it since it left Freeview. Jesus that's a depressing affair especially when it loops - analysing drab transfer news inch by inch - again and again.

What compounds it though are the adverts. Virtually every other one is about cancer or life insurance. Bleak as ****.

This is getting a bit worrying... before when we werent signing players we knew it was because Bruce was manager and Ehab was being a cock.. now we know Phelan has money available and bids are on the table for players.... yet we're STILL without a single signing days before the window shuts.

Im guessing we're the least attractive club in the PL to sign for? mid-takeover, no manager, small squad etc... We just need that first signing through the door and hopefully the rest will follow.

I do hate it when other clubs are linked with players and its done & dusted in days... Diame to Newcastle for example.... yet we've been linked with Jay Rod since last week and nothing... he must be holding out for a better offer, what else could be holding up a loan deal?

It was on sky sports that there are a few manager who are struggling in this window to get deals completed. I think it will be down to the fact of the increased revenues and agents trying to squeeze every penny out of the deals by making clubs desperate. United have paid the ibras agent something like 40 million this window to get the deals for ibra, pogba and mhikitan completed early . NEXT POST IS PAGE 300.
