It's 2016 and player inflation is crazy but unfortunately, these are the going prices. Ryan Mason would be a coup for us who is a very good player, is young, has a resale value and part of a recent England set up.
You can't expect to sign players of his ilk and not pay for it.
14m might be on the steep side but anything lower than 10 isn't reflective of the market.
We signed Huddlestone for 5.5 3 years and rates have doubled at least since then. I'd say 11 is probably reflective.

Apparently Spurs want £10 million, not sure if Ehab's negotiating though, hence the £14 million has come into it!
Their starting price is 10, so we may well negotiate lower. No idea where 14m has come from.

Huddlestone, Dawson & Livermore had international recognition (particularly Hudds & Daws). Mason was a bright new hope for Spurs but it hasn't quite panned out.
He puts himself about and has great energy but lacks the quality to make it with a top team. He'll be a good signing for us but I don't think we can say he's at a level that our other 3 Spurs signings were at. Hence why £10million is overpriced, even in today's market. £6-7million tops (£1-2million added should we stay up).
Spurs asking for £10million would back up this valuation in my book.

I'd pay the 10 probably but the amounts these players are going for is shocking, we played half or more of that for Jake and Hudds and surely they are much better players
Perhaps a better option might be about to come off...always had a feeling he was the Diame money reinvested. New owners, deeper pockets, better signing.
Burnley paid £8million for a Belgium international - not sure how we can say Mason is worth any more than that.
No way on this earth is Ryan Mason worth £14m.
Levy has trousered some coin off us, if that is the price quoted then I'd be looking elsewhere.
Jedinak would have been a much better option another leader on the pitch and whilst much older, we only need someone to galvanise the team for the next season or two.

Although I'd argue that he's worth £6million but we'll pay £8million because he's English
Going back the the Micah Richards link, If we was to revert back to a back three for when we play the big boys, a back three of Dawson, Davies and Richards would be immense to be honest, all solid in the air. Davies and Richards with pace and Dawson leading the back line. With Roberston and Dave/ Elmo given more freedom down the wing which would also allow us to have two strikers up front again.
Richards would be a good addition, provides immediate cover at CB and RB, Mason i'd be happy with too, almost ambivalent to whether it's 6m or 14m, with the transfer market as it is we gotta pay what we gotta pay. Throw in HRK as well, and it's a good start to our recruitment process and perhaps only leaves us 2 players short of the squad we need when everyone is fit
Not sure if it's been said on here yet, but its doing the rounds on Twitter that we're in for Scott Hogan from Brentford and that also the potential new owners have backed out from the deal for Nikolic.
