He's maybe just being rested! If he got injured tonight everyone would be shouting " why did we play him?" Maybe it's just what it is?
I agree, the only worry is why did they feel the need to say it now.
Could of just waited until tonight and said he is missing because...........

normally when players are on the move, they arent risked in the upcoming match.
However it could just be a case of "we havent got many players as it is, so its an unnecessary risk for him to play."
Phelan would be mad to have risked him tonight, him and Curtis need wrapping in cotton wool between games at the moment, cannot afford to lost them to injury

hope youre right man
I take comfort from the fact that all we've seen so far to suggest he wants out is an iffy translation of an interview Abel had done a couple of months ago, the fact we've progressed as a team on the field in the last 2 weeks with great results, the players seem to be behind the manager and together as a squad. The takeover appears to be coming along too, and I can imagine all the players are holding out to see what happens. If nothing changes by next Weds, I can see him forcing a move, until then I get the impression Abel would rather play PL than champo.

As the season started hernandez had a hernia injury which Phelan illuded to in his interviews I believe .. common sense leaving him at home .. no more no less .. as for the Villa links I suspect it's no more then speculative .. Now if a premier league club came knocking I'd worry

he's our only goal scorer/recognised striker so it does make sense not to risk him, its miles away so theres no point him traveling and sitting in the stands. We'd all put PL survival ahead of the cup so injury or not, villa interest or not it makes sense

I'd sooner win a cup to be honest.

Reactions: Tony Angelino
Hernandez always looks really happy. Look at when he scored on Saturday. Very doubtful he'd drop a division. If he did I'd doubt Villa would pay what I would perceive as his actual market value. I'd expect double what they paid for McCormack given his age and he's a PL player.

None starter.

yeah but we dont need to risk one of our best players for the early rounds.
them saying he has an injury tho is a worry, Id prefer it if they didnt say anything and just stated that they were resting him.
