Sun loungers in Armley? Surprised it hasn't been stolen with the occupant![]()

I wonder about him as part of a 3 man centre back line-up? Would be good to have a ball-player there, our distribution from the back isn't great, he's a perfect size, he can read the game and his slothness in midfield slowing down break away attacks would be a welcome removal. It would solve a lot of issues in one fell swoop.
Martin Jol (I know...) said he was the best sweeper in the world for precisely these reasons and him in between Davies and Dawson would be formidable for a club like us. Put it this way, if Antonio Conte took over is tomorrow that's where he'd play him!

You might know I am an advocate of wing-backs, if played with an attacking mindset and not a defensive one (Bruce); I believe Thudds would be capable of playing as you say and it would solve his midfield lethargy and solve our defensive distribution. My only concern would be his defensive instincts in the box.
Hope we aren't falling into Rooney territory, trying to fit him him somewhere because he isn't good enough to play in his natural positionI wonder about him as part of a 3 man centre back line-up? Why has no one played in there since?Tom started life as a centre half. It's probably his most natural position.
Yes the same Rooney that hasn't done anything previous to the first 2 games of the group like the same Tom that hasn't done anything other than mediocre for the last 3 months of the seasonThe same Rooney who most people had as MoTM is the first couple of games of the tournament? And it's not shoehorning him in from a misguided sense of loyalty, I think his attributes are better suited to that position and our midfield dynamic and style of play would be better suited if he wasn't played there. Plus he used to be a centre back.
We can get better defensive midfielders and we can get better centre backs than HMS ThuddTom started life as a centre half. It's probably his most natural position.
And if Hoddle got the England job, and he likes 3 at the back...That was where he served his schooling and we've got 2 other brilliant defenders (for us) to compensate that. The more I think about this the more I think it would be a real step forward for both us and his career, and I'm not just saying that cos I posted it!

How much do you think Tom would worry about being released? Do you think he'd be destitute?I don't know what's so funny, hundreds of professional footballers become unemployed each summer.

Tom Huddlestone on a free anyone? Any takers?
No I don't mean like Jenas, I mean like Tom Huddlestone..You mean like Jermaine Jenas, who actively went on tv many times declaring his availability - begging for a job - and when none came he reluctantly had to retire?
I'm sure Tom could've got a gig, but if he'd not bucked his ideas up and got his thumb out of his arse for the 3 months prior to his contract expiring and we'd subsequently released him, how many clubs do you think would pay him what we had been?

How many clubs would take him on a free?
A lot.
Course they would. I can't even believe we're having this discussion.I agree, he wouldn't have struggled to find a club. He has had a mixed time at City, but on a free transfer he would've gone somewhere like Bournemouth or Villa.
Bmouth wouldnt touch him. So ye i agree a championship club would take him.I agree, he wouldn't have struggled to find a club. He has had a mixed time at City, but on a free transfer he would've gone somewhere like Bournemouth or Villa.
