Hull City boss dealt transfer blow

Hull City boss Steve Bruce has been dealt a blow with the Tigers board limiting him to free transfers only, the Sun reports (Friday edition, page 54).

It is claimed the newly-promoted side do not want to fork out for fee-paying transfers amid uncertainty over a proposed takeover at the KC Stadium.

The news comes a day after centre-back Michael Dawson became the seventh Hull star to be sidelined through injury, leaving Bruce, who is yet to make any new signings, with a player shortage ahead of their season opener at home to Premier League champions Leicester City.

Probably bollocks, but nothing would surprise me now.

This would not surprise me. What's in it for the Allams to spend anything if they are selling. Any expenditure might complicate the sale.

I would like to see a staff and player revolt!

Bruce, Phelan, Robbo, Hudd, Livermore basically any player withna release clause and say we either see some signings in next week or we are off.

Even our greedy owners can see how much the club value will drop and how they would never recoup their money. Egos would also be hit knowing each and eveyone who left would be in media explain ing why they left due to inept owners

What release clauses? If you refer to the ones heavily publicised last season they were activated on relegation. They're now deactivated.

Er, protect the value of the club?

One of the weirder posts.

Any extra assets purchased can be added to the value of the club.

Just make sure Steve is asked the question by RH. I've already emailed them to ask about it, suggest a few others do it and then they'll ask.

Ulloa has said he wants to leave. Unfortunately he's probably out of our price range unless we can sort a loan.

As i dont have any access to any player contracts I am merely speculating. I would have thought the players agents would have them inserted though.

They may well have release clauses, but they wont be activated for not signing players. Most clauses are relegation based, non achievement based (ie promotion or Europe qualification) or relating to the value of a bid been made.

The terms of the sale will need to be renegotiated but perhaps they will be anyway.

Not sure what that relates to my post.

If the Allams want any where near 100m offered in September, they should be bringing players in with the PL money we just earned.

I understand that, however most players have a release clause for a set value (Westwood and Gunter as quoted earlier this week). The point I am making is that if they say "I want to see signings that will make us competitive min PL or I will instruct my agent to seek another PL club", the Allams will know that if a team come in for a player and meet the release theremis jot amgreat dealmthey can do to stop them going. And they will also be aware that keeping the top players and manager is what makes the club an attractive purchase.
