Hmmmmm, looked all through AmuS and not one clip of the yellow soft, so I reckon McLaren are colouring all their tyres red to fool the rest and that was a yellow soft run they did at the end.

Maybe they were on hards and unlike the others didn't sandbag.
McLarens test report will be out soon so hopefully that'll say <ok>

CHEQUERED FLAGMCLAREN DRIVER JENSON BUTTON POSTS THE QUICKEST TIME ON THE FIRST DAY OF PRE-SEASON TESTING IN JEREZ

Has Lewis made a critical error with his move to Mercedes !!!!!!

Its only the first day of testing and we don't know the whole fuel loads, programmes, engine settings etc.

Not too mention McLaren was the fastest car last year and Hamilton was sublime all season and that combo left him 90 points adrift of the championship.

Ben Edwards said:
BBC F1 technical analyst Gary Anderson and I watched at various points around the track on Tuesday, and while it's impossible to see which car is going to be a winner just from observing, certain aspects of the cars' behaviour are instructive.

The Lotus looks nimble in the hands of Romain Grosjean, while the Red Bull of Mark Webber appeared to be running on a heavy fuel load in these early sessions, the car reacting more slowly on turn-in and acceleration than when light of fuel.

The Toro Rosso of Daniel Ricciardo looked promising in the slower corners, as the back of the car looks responsive to his inputs, while Paul di Resta was silky smooth and consistent in the Force India. The car appears to turn in well, it rides over kerbs and bumps with minimal deflection and he set a competitive time with absolutely no drama.

This circuit at Jerez is not typical of many current F1 tracks, and a car that is fast here may not necessarily be on the pace elsewhere, but it can still give clues.

We came across 1982 world champion Keke Rosberg - Nico's father - watching from one of the final corners, and he wasn't too impressed with the Ferrari of Felipe Massa, and thought that Pastor Maldonado was a bit ragged while pushing hard. That made Gary and me smile, as the Finn was well known for his hard-charging technique.

Maldonado's car is in fact the 2012 version with some updates, and Williams are the only team not to have unveiled their new car as yet. Perhaps this explains the Venezuelan's abandon - he may well feel a little less sense of responsibility than drivers who are out in the brand new cars, for which spare parts will be at a premium.

Lucky world champion bashing Ferrari. Old fool.

Formula1.com come wading in on the "what tyre" argument

With the problem fixed, Button was able to have a much more positive afternoon and ended the day having completed 37 laps, with his timesheet-topping lap set on Pirelli’s new orange-striped hard compound tyres.

Np if nothing gets said I'll take it to Interpol and then we will see what happens if there are irregular bets going on for Jenson being on top today.

#F1 @f1silverarrow McLaren confirmed, Jenson used supersoft & hard in the afternoon. But the fastest laptime was set on the hard compound.

So who is lying McLaren or Pirelli?

I see you have your answer on twitter :)

I wasn't around for all of the testing was it driver error or was it a mechanical failure? (Rear suspension i presume)

Rear suspension failure apperently, plus a bonus knock against a wall I think.

Silver is Rosberg telling the truth here?

McLaren's day 1 report:

The morning’s running was compromised by a mechanical fuel-pump issue, which cost a couple of hours’ track-time, but the problem was quickly rectified and the team was able to run productively for the remainder of the afternoon.

Jenson spent the first part of the day’s programme running a lower-lip rake to complete some aero mapping work. The end of the day saw the team evaluate the effects of a series of mechanical set-up changes, using both the Supersoft and Hard Pirelli tyres.

Both the aero mapping and the balance changes fell in line with the team’s pre-test expectations. Jenson set his fastest time of the day on the Hard compound.

What’s next?

Sergio Perez gets his first opportunity to drive a Vodafone McLaren Mercedes car tomorrow (Wednesday). The knock-on effects of this morning’s fuel-pump issue mean that he will begin his day by continuing today’s initial aero and balance checks.

The aim for tomorrow afternoon is to conduct a series of longer runs – possibly incorporating live pitstops into the mix if the team is satisfied with the day’s initial progress.

Dude look how pissed off he is, mind my french.
When he crashes or brakes down in races, his face is normally flushed and no sign of happiness there. But I shall leave that to Silver.

Isn't lying about downforce looks confident in saying it as well, but it's obvious he is showing signs of anxiety and anger with today. Keeps looking to (his) Left, so is looking up actual memory. Looking to (their) right is imaginary etc...

But I don't know if he is left or right handed because it could mean the other way round.

I also noticed the same with Lewis to be honest, he was looking very worried before getting into the car but after his shakedown seemed to have settled pretty well and looked interested into getting stuck in.
