Good to see Jenson on top despite the problems in the morning, Mercedes had the worst day by far likely to be the first of many failures over the year. Hamilton fans will now know what it felt like to be a Schumacher fan last year!
perhaps, maybe when they said they weren't bringing the super softs they meant it wasn't in their 20, but the teams could still pick it if they really wanted.
I think a few tires last year for testing had the colour marking dyes mixed up, so it's possible it's happened again.
please log in to view this image This is a picture when the car broke down which has the red stripe tyres? I am still confused! Just over 15 minutes remaining and Mark Webber and Jenson Button are back in the pits after that spell out on the circuit. Webber sits atop the timesheet at the moment, although his average pace was slower than Button's. Webber was in the 1m23s, while Button was averaging 1m21.4s.
I don't think McLAren would be allowed to have a 1 coloured system of tyres to fool rival as to stop the confusion for the journalists and viewers.
Def. heard from realiable sources that dry weather tyres available would be Soft, Med. and Hard. I can only assume that.. 1 - Source is not so realiable (unlikely), 2 - They painted the wrong colour on Jensons tyre's (unlikely) 3 - Its an "illusion" due to the livery of the McLaren (maybe) 4 - All of the above...
Orange is definitely hard... and white = medium If Pirelli didn't bring supersofts, the only tyre compound unaccounted for is the soft. If someone can find a picture of a car with yellow marked tyres, that would prove Button was on supersofts today - although we still won't know if his 1:18.8 was done on supersofts.
To add.. McLaren have their "rocket red" tops but we all know they're more Orange than Red.. So, I'm guess its option 3 above!
I seriously resent/lament Gary Anderson being lauded as a pundit with any credible knowledge whatsoever. This man proved himself to be as informed as the rest of us when he categorically panned Mclaren's design in Autosport, on the Beeb etc before it had taken to the track and after testing. It then went on to be pretty nifty in the first few races... What exactly is his credibility? He once worked for minardi or something? Wow... You must be a technical genius then, used to winning races and comparable with Adrian Newey... No wonder you're employed by a top team instead of filling your days in bitter jealousy, sounding off about other people's designs, and generally trying to be a know-it-all... Oh wait... Nearly every race he got the tyre situation hopelessly wrong as well... No end to his talents. There has got to be someone more credible out there with better insight, surely?
Hmmmmm, looked all through AmuS and not one clip of the yellow soft, so I reckon McLaren are colouring all their tyres red to fool the rest and that was a yellow soft run they did at the end.
