Should be a special sound proof sitting area where all of us geriatrics can sit and watch the game in peace, away from all you loud mouthed young hooligans.

Just a thought.

This is getting ridiculous, in every ground in the league, standing is not permitted, it is allowed in moderation, but never permitted. I have sat in the Gallowgate since the Milburn Paddock was closed and I stand more than most, sing and shout the odds, whilst still being considerate to people about me. I've never been told to sit down once, but I have also never sworn or abused anyone who asked me to sit down, i believe, as should be the case, all supporters are equal.

Level 7 seems to have created a monster, a load of young fans who think they are 'the loyalest and loudest ever' and but don't understand many of the fundamental principles of being a real fan. The sheer misguided arrogance that Ashley personally closed down level 7 because he was upset by their chants. Pure delusion, I'm sure the £500 you all gave him every year softens the blow, and to be honest, i doubt he cares.

And some of the garbage about other grounds having standing areas? Yes, some areas stand more than others but the Kop sit for large portions of the game, Goodison, Ewood and the Emirates are like morgues and the SOL corner sit and stand in equal share.

Even back in the Keegan era, when the atmosphere was good, stand up if you loved the toon would appear twice, maybe three times a game, and everyone joined in. When you have stand up... Shoes off... Pogo... Etc every two minutes it becomes tiresome, particularly if you are trying to sit for the majority of the game.

Ultimately, a standing area would be great, but will not happen in a post-Hillsborough premier league without a lot of research first. In terms of this story, everyone has the same rights at games, just because you have some elitist, misplaced view on your support doesn't give you the right to abuse another NEWCASTLE FAN. If you get a letter warning you about future behaviour, and continue, you deserve everything you get.

They moved the 80 year old to another seat in the ground but she stated she was inundated there with swear words by a 19 year old believed to be from the Whitley Bay area.

"It was terrible" she stated, "It was swear here, swear there. At one point he began to shout 'Ashley out...' comments and finished them with '... to Greggs the fat'... well; I won't say that word'.

"A Spanish tourist next to me called him scum and I agreed. He didn't care though and lambasted the foreign visitor with tales of surviving terrorist attacks at the age of twelve" she continued.

The club are looking for the culprit.

Brilliant. Simply brilliant <laugh>

I recommend that if you go to those grounds that you listed, you keep an eye out for it. There is definitely a section at the back of the Kop that stand, same at Everton, and Arsenal, and Sunderland have always bragged about having that corner.

You sound just as bad as some of the movers to be honest. We have been labelled as young teenage charvers who just want to cause trouble. Having sat in level 7 for 10 years, there were a lot of people who stayed up there, all adults, granted there were some kids, but where in the ground isn't there? Adults were stood shouting more than the kids, people who had been up there for years, like myself.

I don't think anyone can deny that Level 7 made the atmosphere better, and its totally recognisable that it isn't there anymore. The atmosphere is dire, and in terms of backing the team with songs and making a racket, the lads from level 7 are without doubt the best who go to home games, in terms of making an atmosphere, I do agree with you that everyone is equal as a fan, but in terms of bringing back an atmosphere to SJP, its the lads from level 7 who seem to be the only ones willing to do something about it. There are too many people who just sit on their arse and complain about everything Newcastle United.

I am now in the Gallowgate, and I knew it was poor but wow, all of us who had moved were just shocked at how ****ing boring it is. I am not in a position to stand, so won't be getting a letter, and the ones that do, I feel sorry for. They try and make an atmosphere, and just because 1 lad abused an old lady, everyone else gets punished.

Its not arrogance, we just want to bring back an atmosphere but are being stopped doing so by powers that be, and fellow supporters! Far too many people are not willing to make a difference to the atmosphere.

The Geordie Roar has gone from SJP, and it won't return. Some people are willing to live with that but it annoys me. I go to the match for a good time, a good sing song, don't get that anymore.

This is very well put. Not everyone will agree, but it's nice to see a well written view. I've posted on this before, on the Stand up Sit down debate thread (or something along those lines, and started by Leazes I believe) so can't be bothered to reiterate my sentiments. It's a situation that will split fans.
