I can't help it, but I agree we're relegated already, but I have to disagree about Maynard, we apparently offered him a guaranteed get out clause if we went down, so he'd have half a season to show himself off in the PL, before choosing to stay or leave for the same price we would have paid for him, but he decided to stay in the Championship just because West Ham offered him more cash, but he'd have made far more with his bonus if we stay up this summer. Greed won out in the end, but he must be really thick to think he couldn't have made more from signing with us, I guess most players are just too dumb to realise that higher add-ons, bonuses etc. can make a yearly wage higher than a higher weekly wage with low bonuses.
We said he can talk to you at that price! MAYNARD REFUSED TO TALK TO YOU, BECAUSE HE DON'T LIKE YOU!! There you go in capitals so you understand, we are not the mugs, we held out got a price we has happy with to find that the player didn't even want to see you.
City would have taken six million in the summer and two million last week but Maynard held all the aces. £1.6m is a good deal when you consider one hour later he would have been worth zero. I actually thought we would get less than a million so we have to be happy to get something. Maynard didn't like Leicester and could see they were going no-where this year. He could clearly see Wigan were going down and moving there would be a disaster. WHU are a club on the up. He will get a promotion medal and gain hero status if he bags a few goals on the way. A bit of success in his first year in the prem and the big boys will start to look at him. I doubt if there is a sell on clause as we were not in a position to demand one. I wish Nicky well, I dislike the way this has been done but his advisors were proven right in the end. The message to fans on the OS seems genuine and reflects the manner in which he has conducted himself throughout this.
This whole scenario was all about one thing called Nicky Maynard. Forget all the rhetoric about failures on behalf of BCFC and certain management figures because it was all down to Nicky and his dream of Prem football. Remember he would accept nothing less than the Prem and yet he has proved that was a lie because he has gone to a possible contender. I am left with a very bad taste in my mouth because I ask myself why he couldn't he have gone to Leicester for a much bigger fee. He obviously believed that he was a much bigger target than than Premiership clubs thought, which has forced him off his holier than thou perch. Perhaps his sole intent in the latter stages of this saga was to screw BCFC as much as possible and then he decided he wanted out so badly that he accepted the only deal available to retain his self respect. I have never been so glad to see a player leave BCFC than with Nicky and I don't wish him any ill. Truly, I don't think he will ever succeed at the level that he believes he can and would expect to see him back at Ashton Gate in the very near future, including next season. Tickets will be scarce for that eventuallity.
I don't want to sound churlish or petty, but how I would now love to see Leicester go up and West Ham fail in the play offs.!! Failing that one season in the prem and then straight relegation, would NM try the same tactics to further his career then?? As others have said I, originally, didn't want him to go but am now glad he has gone. It'll be interesting to see what kind of reception he gets when West Hame visit the gate (that's if he's playing or even on the bench. Onwards and upwards!
Hey Guys! Cardiff fan in peace I think you couldn't ask much more for a guy who would of been able to talk to clubs n signed for them while still playing for you! Thats a kick in the teeth 1.65mil is better then nothing trust me Cardiff have had there fair share with Ledley leaving on a free and Bothroyd last year along with Burke these players should of been cashed in! That would of easily raised 6mil in transfers fees for all those players but we ended up with zilch!! I respect you chairman for making the right decision!! Maynard made it clear he wasn't going to sign a new deal so he had to be sold!! Good luck for rest of the season!!
i doubt maynard will start games. west ham have these strikers: Carlton Cole John Carew Frederic Piquionne Sam Baldock Freddie Sears Frank Nouble Brian Montenegro and last night west ham signed 2 other strikers as well:- Ricardo Vaz Te Ravel Morrison again i think he will only be a bench warmer at best.
Na Cole is ****e They have a good selection of strikers which considering yesterday's 5-1 defeat they need them, they have a decent defence already but yesterday they were a shambles
Oi dumbass try reading this link, http://www.bcfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10327~2596170,00.html you may just learn something. See you next season.
After we take another 3 points when you come to us. You've got to hand it to them, Leicester fans are as dumb as ****ing toast, and that's doing toast a dis-service. They are also arrogant, and support a crap team
I'm a bit gutted that we didn't try to sign Ravel Morrison, as he'll do wonders in this league if he puts his head down and stops ****ing around.
Nah, Cole is ****e, Carew is just seeing out his career, none of the others are pulling up trees - Maynard will get the chance and if he starts scoring, will stay there... GerryGow is right, very shrewd move by Nicky - chance to be a big fish in a medium size pond, its up to him to "take the opportunity of a lifetime in the lifetime of the opportunity" as my old boss used to say...
