I've never understood why a tourist would want to come to a ground full of other tourists anyway. When I go to a game abroad half the buzz is watching the crowd and soaking up the atmosphere. I went to a Sparta Prague game we just rocked up to during a stag weekend, amazing atmosphere....I never thought to complain that there were too many locals there <laugh> I watched Barca vs Sporting Gijon and absolutely loved every minute despite hardly being able to see the game....the atmosphere was amazing. Pretty sure the regular fans played a pretty big part in generating that buzz. [HASHTAG]#rocketscience[/HASHTAG]

Going to Anfield has always been something I have to save for and is a special treat for me and in the past the ticket prices meant that I could afford it now and then but with the increase in ticket prices I've been forced away and no longer go. I'm a passionate Liverpool fan who turned up and sang my heart out as it was something special to me. So as well as the locals the increase also loses fans like myself.

Exactly. The price goes up for everyone not just people from Liverpool but when the people of the city can't afford to go anymore what hope is there for the supporters scattered all over the country. We end up with simply the rich and the day trippers. What a dull old place it will be then eh....no flags, no songs, no emotion, no soul.

Exactly this. The ticket is only a proportion of the cost for people outside the city. If I went at the minute, I'd be expecting to spend over £120 on the day with relative ease.

Old trick...Make 200 an utterly ridiculous £77 so the thousands at prices between £40-£60 are not mentioned in the headlines. Literally for that very line: "it's only 200 seats"....hoping the debate in the media revolved around that and not on the entire increase. To make a false comparison where they think £50 will sound good...

Worked a treat for them lol..

Totally true. The 77 quid ticket is only but it sets the tone for the 53800 other tickets.

The have not been mentioned.

I feel those arranging protest have to be careful now and not go target more games immediately
They are not rail workers or communists. They are people choosing to buy entertainment... That's slightly facious of me but it's not far from the truth. ... they can lose support quite fast if they don't go talk properly with the club even if they feel after months of talk they got shafted.

It's not a union. People buy tickets to turn up not work for a living here so from a position of strength getting 10k out.

And ok I will say it.... the loudest I've heard anfield signing during a game for a good while... well.. from there you have to say why can't the crowd be heard every week.

From that position what do you do... continue to walk out or stay away and damage the club or.... get talking cos that's the only way to get something.

What if 5k walk out next time?
 
If other clubs fans were to join in with this fight against ticket prices, how long until the price of TV subscription is pulled into the ring too?

Even [HASHTAG]#bbcsalford[/HASHTAG] have grudgingly acknowledged the success of the protest. After completely ignoring it on their front page for days they finally posted "given the publicity this story has received [from newspapers], Liverpool fans must think their walkout was well worth the effort."

It's a charge to be close to Klopp and the tunnel. It's not 20k though... Let's do the maths.

77 for 6 games.
67 for y games
57 for 6 games.

Or thereabouts.

So what if you end match classes? Tickets end up 67 quid

What if you then knock a tenner
That's...... 10x58kx19 = 11.02 million pounds.

Is 11million revenue worth it? Can you not figure ways to skim more on concessions where people have a choice?

11mil. .... one bad transfer. One Mario balotelli less a year...

Mito this wasn't just done on a wim. It's years of frustrations and simmering resentment about the people in charge of our club. I'd be amazed if a single fan hadn't thought long and hard before deciding to walk and leave the game at the weekend. It's never happened before and I don't think any want to have to do it again. This was a last resort not some militant walk out. This was as a result of the owners becoming so detached from the fans who come to watch the team, the fans who make sacrifices week in week out to do so.... I also think there was a frustration that despite the unifying words of Herr Klopp those above him chose to go against everything he was trying to do. The biggest threat to LFC is not the fans walking out, it's the total lack of appreciation of the difference we could make (and the complete detachment between us and the owners).

Shame the people that matter (owners / board) won't realise how much thought went into it. They are too distant from the mere mortal fans.

But put yourself in their shoes now. What would you be thinking?

IMO, they be sat there acknowledging that fans aren't happy but not entirely caring either. What matters to them is how successful a business LFC is and how they can get the maximum profits on their return.

They will be looking at it as the fans have had their strop and won't be doing it again in a hurry. The owners will be thinking the fans believe its a waste of time doing it again if they don't do anything this time.

We know how stubborn they can be after witnessing the contractual break in the Suarez saga, they won't be pushed around and they know fans will still turn up, or at the very least pay for the tickets. If they don't, for every fan that decides not to buy a ticket, there will be literally hundreds waiting to take their place.

Their ego and reputation is more important to them than the fans are. Back down and they appear weak and open to future pressures from fans.


I don't believe these to be true or accurate views, it's me second guessing what the owners will be thinking.

I full acknowledge that its years and years and its a huge thing to do.

Having done it I feel the biggest mistake would be to lose the perhaps public opinion that might be forming generallt but for sure the latent amount of fans who did walk out by continuing is an issue.

Why?

Like it or no... there is a bit of a militant attitude there. it takes a level of it just to organised it. not all 10k who did walk out i think want to so this every week, not all 10k want to sing greedy bastards at the guys who saved the club form administration and umped in interest free cash.

Yss its owners out of touch, yes its everything your say and you've far more right than I to say it... but... I have to say that public opinion is fickle and I think its time to sit down. And if then the club seem exactly the same as when the 9 months of consultation went on fine go again.

I'm sure they have to be out of touch if they spent 9 months consulting and thought a few cheaper tickets for juniors and class c matches costing less was solving issues. The club might think freezing prices in 2015 was good of them and now they've come up with a package that continues it. i've no idea what's in their heads.

But... if the objective is £30 tickets and no more then theres an agenda there of its own that not all fans will support i think. Its the same with all unions. You hear these reps talk and you wonder... hmmm.. whats the real story. 50% might have walked out on the issue for good reason but might not walk out again....

isn't it better to sit down now and say hey you've a chance to listen now. Why go to away game and walk out in FA cup tonight... if you've a quarter of the gorund on your side thats huge. Is it not time to use that in talks? do you feel that FSG and ayre are that disconnected they will think its a one off and ignore it?

it could be three things:

1. The anfield road end is cancelled cos i'm putting no more money in.

2. Its time to sell this now and recoup the outlay made.

3. What can we do to turn this round. How can we make this better for all.


I don't think they will be thinking

a) its about profit... they've said many times its not about profit its about sport and the profit comes elsewhere.... i.e. selling brands alongside ours in global markets. I think the half empty gorund on preseaosn shocked them FAR more than we realized. I was looking at it and saying this was not good at the time. I'm sure they sacked rodgers and went for klopp to turn that round. They have said we need to finance ourselves and they've propped us up to do so and now we live on our revenues and pay for our new stadium.. they sell on the fringes.

b) I don't think a 10k crowd walk out can be ignored by anyone. they could see in G&H time nobody walked out. there were protests in ground but no walk outs and SoS didn't get that many marching outside the ground regularly.

....

I do think they've alluded i nthe past to the anfield road end development being if. From my experience in business I think this will be shelved as a result. Its a lot of money for 4k extra seats and honestly in the past i've seen investments pulled when union kicked up and moved so i'd not be at all shocked.

I think such unrest is something that would put off investors and that WILL worry FSG. I'm sure they've talked to all sorts including chinese about monetising some of their ownership.
 
The owners will obviously want a successful buisness model, they will also want the fans to be happy. This isn't something that is getting out of hand it's a communication between the fans and the club that has become an issue that needs to be resolved. Nothing more.
