At least there was 1 decent sentence today!

5 years for someone that couldn't prove that it wasn't murder is ridiculous.

The Steemkamps seem to have taken a backhander as well, how are they "satisfied" with 5 years for losing their daughters next 40 years of life!

What would you do?

If you had been found guilty of culpable homicide would you ask the judge to give you the full 15 year sentence he can or would you do your best to get a minimal sentence, i know i would try and get off as lightly as i could. Whether i agree or disagree with what he got, its ridiculous you think he is not going to do his best to get out of the situation.
 
It's just been announced that he's going to be released before the end of August, having served less than ten months.

Though the state prosecutor has appealed against the judges decision and he'll be back in court in November, when there's still a slim chance the decision will be overturned and he'll get fifteen years for murder.

I'm not overly impressed with the South African justice system.
