Meeting with Dr Allam...

I rarely post on here but read pretty much all of it but I need to share my thoughts.....

Ive supported City both home and away since I was 5 making that 27 years of ups and downs, what do I think of the name change......NO Thanks, I don't think it should happen......BUT I think that there should also be room for compromise.

I can live with the dropping of A.F.C from the badge as long as the city remains, many clubs no longer have the F.C or A.F.C on the crest anymore (Scumchester United is one) and when was the last time 99% of city fans used the A.F.C in reference to the club

Encouraging a compromise of Hull City (which is shorter than Hull Tigers - original idea from AA was that the shorter the better) will hopefully lead to a more favourable outcome than no compromise over the A.F.C and A NO compromise approach, GUARANTEED will lead to only one outcome.....Hull Tigers

Just look at the recent Grangemouth incident to see what happens when neither side will compromise........the person holding the cards (owner) wins and the opposition gets absolutely nothing!!!

All I would ask is that anyone attending this meeting accepts the fact that A.F.C is no longer relevant and if it HAS to then it can go.....however CITY can NEVER go as I genuinely believe that this is the opinion of the majority of fans that fill the KC every week!!
 
The AFC is part of our name and has been since June 1904. It is therefore as relevant now as it was then.

It's what defines the club.

True.

Better decisions are made when challenges are put up and risks, however extreme, are considered. You put up challenges to assist with shaping something. You accept that many of the challenges you put up are defended, some influence, some result in change. The end result is a better solution.

Once the solution has been defined or a decision made, you work with it to achieve an end result.
 
I don't want the name to be changed, but FFS it's as if its a matter of life and death to some on here. It's forking bonkers, it's not going to make a jot of difference. It's not as if he's proposing to remove any local identity from the official club name, or asset strip the club.

Those who will purposely harm the clubs income by refusing to carry on buying products they usually do, whether tickets or merchandise, are lesser supporters and lose all face of their argument. It will still be the same club. Regardless of how stupid the proposed name sounds, The Doctor is far more in the right doing something he believes will help the club in the long run, and the counter to that is that people will stop buying if the crest doesn't say Hull City.

If anyone's going to use that argument at the meeting, just stay at home. It will cause far more bad than good.
 
Although i would accept the dropping of afc, i don't want to,and i don't see the need. Hull tigers is just plain embarrassing.

What possible benefit could come from dropping the AFC and remaining 'Hull City'? That's actually more ******ed than changing the name to 'Hull Tigers', you complete and utter mong, as it doesn't leave anywhere to hide for our dementia victim of an owner.
 
The stream I'm watching has us called Hull City Tigers.

Streamed off Malaysian channel Astro Supersport. If theyre already calling us that, maybe that shows some of Allam's intention, unless theyve just jumped in ahead of schedule.

The reason I feel that the CTWD only represent a minority view is because of the low numbers in every available poll. The majority view would seem to be the one alluded to by Strov and many others myself included. It would seem to come down to this, who should decide company policy in respect of Hull City football club? the owner of the club? or should it be a bunch of stuck in the eighties fanzinista ****wits who are unwilling or unable to embrace modern football and the direction it is taking.

Every single person has the right to withdraw their support for the business that is Hull City football club if they so wish and on that basis anyone that does not like modern football and feels unable to support the owner and his business decisions should consider if the time has come for them to find another interest or hobby.

Why are people in the yes camp still using that argument? You know too well what the Allams want to do.

Modern football and the direction it is taking is represented in the media by Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool with Everton, Swansea City and Southampton coming up on the rails. None of these clubs are thinking of changing their name. Everton held a massive consultation exercise over its crest and responded to the fans wishes.

The only club that is considering changing its name is Cardiff City. Hardly a good example of the future direction of modern football. Faced with a choice the road of Cardiff City or the road of Swansea City I know which one I'd follow.

I follow Association Football and the club of I followed is an Association Football Club. I'm not surprised or disappointed by the limp and totally confused stance of so many on here. We are not ice hockey, cricket, badminton, conkers or even squash, we are an Associated Football Team. Why are you happy to throw,away the identity of the sport your club embraces? Money talks and the sport is gagged. Get back to grass-roots, because this is starting to stink to high heavens. Allem gets not a cent more, because he's taking the Mickey.

Same old argument, Mel, and it's bollocks. This ain't about money, it's about identity.if he wants to take this to the ultimate then the club would fold and a vacuum would be created and another club would be formed to cash in on . . . What exactly? If there is so much money to be made out of this football club then any half-intelligent businessman would do it without a name change and the alienation of the hearts and minds of the core support. If he says he is doing it for us and the city then he is a liar - nothing less. Don't let's talk about pie-in-the-sky buyouts, let's make Allam very clear he is wrong.

Aye, but even United are looking at that. Though you make good points.

I like what their chief exec Ed Woodward has to say. Recognising that the football club and the commercial business are two separate entities. They co-exist, but shouldn't impact on one another.

Woodward said: "I didn't like that change of badge.

"(Joint-chairman) Joel (Glazer) didn't like that change. We will look at that and have a think about that.

"We are a football club, not a business.

"I described it to our staff that we are a 135-year-old club and that's what you have to remember. We are a football club, a club with a capital C.

"Strapped to that is a commercial business that's going to fund a lot of the player purchases going forward here and we have to be supportive of both.

"We've got to make sure they co-exist together but don't impact each other and that's where we are trying to balance it."

Yes its about identity, but its not about proving Assem Allam right or wrong. I think we are on the verge of creating something special in Hull, a manager and team that can compete with the best. We have an owner that has done wonders for our club. We are paying our way and winning lots of admiration from across the world.

To me its about showing Assem Allam how important our name is to us and asking him to change his mind. To give us back our identity.

We should be enjoying our successes not arguing about our name. If I was Assem Allam I'd be wondering how to bottle some of the enthusiasm shown in the CTWD campaign to get behind building support for Hull City in the community and as a consequence its finances.
 
No Fez you are wrong, for Assem Allam it's about securing investment. It is all about the money and only about the money. He has already said we as fans should stick to the football and leave the business of the club to him.

Thomas Cook holidays are losing money and market share, what do they do, bring in someone new and she spends a fortune on changing the image of the company. There you go, our argument about keeping the club name the same gone in one.

The only way to stop the name change is to have a financial incentive to keep it.

I believe that all football clubs should have an element of fan share holding. I also consider that membership is better than ticket holding. It's a grass roots sort of thing, of course it's pie in the sky, modern football has no place for fans owning shares, I mean it's not like Man U would ever sell...........

I 100% back the campagin and has signed the petition and asked my none supporting (Hull City AFC) friends to sign too, Will buy anything that will help the campagin. But i am sorry i wont be backing OLM to speak for me as hull not606er.
Reason: Due to what i have found distasteful jokes and other previous theads OLM has made comments on. Nor do i back PLT or DMD in trying to cover up or back track on this.

I think OLM, PLT and DMD have all added some great posts and threads but with that, some really negitive theads. I sure OLM would do a good job at the AA meeting, But for the record he dont speak for me!
