The point of the meeting isn't to speak for everyone. It's to voice and discuss the fans concerns about the rebrand. You could argue otherwise on the basis no agenda has been set, but I think the people/groups who received invitation tell you all you need to know about what the agenda will be.

Club officials flick through all the boards so will be able to gauge a consensus on the numbers on for/against/don't care.

If the group takes a position of no compromise whatsoever, then why would he not press on and just shorten it to Hull Tigers?

This would be an opportunity for both sides to save face and to take a victory away. The scarves after all do not say AFC till I die.

This is a single issue thread in respect of the name change and the forthcoming meeting, You never wish to debate the issues involved do you? Please try and keep up. Ta.

Ps you could get your coat and start another thread, should you wish.

The business won't be Hull City Association Football club it will be Hull Tigers. I presume you think everybody who refers to Hull Tigers as City is also anti-Allam has they will not be respecting his wishes in changing the name.

The majority don't want to change the name, who says? You do so it must be true. Yes Assem Allam can try and take our name off us because he owns the club. But let us be clear he is taking something from his community. In return we are allowed to watch his club.

Yes I agree that after saving the club large numbers don't want to rock the boat by campaigning against Assem Allam. However large numbers of supporters agree with what we are doing and the campaign is growing.

There is still a significant number of people who don't believe he's serious.

Finally, April is a long way away. It is up to the Premier League and the FA to approve the name change. If they say no I suspect the vast majority of City fans will be relieved. If we are a Premier League club Assem Allam can then concentrate on his dreaqm of getting us into Europe and giving his community a taste of European football.

What will we do on a Saturday? Watch Hull City AFC because we won't become Hull Tigers.

The campaign is not growing. See Twitter followers for evidence of this.
If you do not have a plan B compromise to save the "City" and jetison the "AFC", you will **** it up for those who have joined your campaign. They care about "City". That is why you campaign is called City Till I Die. Most couldn't give a **** about AFC.

That bolded bit is one of my biggest issues with your campaign Oba. You're telling us the majority don't want to change the name. I also think you confuse "not fussed either way, I'll carry on as I always have" with "not wanting to upset Dr A/should be counted as not for so they're on our side" which is the main thing that irritates me about the Anti's. I realise stats are made up generally but this isn't even slightly subtle.

So which is it? Are you telling us you represent the view and wishes of the majority of fans who have expressed a direct "not in favour of the name change under any circumstances" or not?

I'll be there today supporting the Mighty Tigers btw, as I always have and always will.

I think it should be worded as such: The majority of people who are bothered regarding the name change are againsts it compared to those in favour. The absolute minority are in favour of the name change.

The overall majority is in the i don't care, the name's not important the clubs more important camp. However of those who have a strong opinion either way its clear the against the name changes it matter.

If the other camps are happy to fight for their cause, then fine. But don't criticize those, such as myself who don't want the name change from protesting against it. You protest for your cause, i'll protest for mine.

I have no statistics to back this up but without a doubt the vast majority of city fans, football fans in general and people in the media are against the name change. I have not personally met one single city fan who is in favour of the name change or who can see any benefit to the club whatsoever. Also working in London I have many friends/colleagues who support other clubs who also think this is a bad idea for football in general. Where will it end? especially with all these foreign owners coming in who have no appreciation for the heritage and history of English football. Mr Allam is only temporary but the club will go on long after he has gone.
The thing I think to get across is that whilst we are all very grateful for what he has done for the club and we wish him and the club every success, the club is part of the heritage and history of the City of Hull and English football which if it were an ancient building would be listed.
English football is admired all over the world and the old saying suits this situation very well: 'if it ain't broke don't fix it'.
It is also a pity that so many people spend time debating who is on or not on the commitee rather than contributing to the meeting by airing their thoughts about the subject matter.

I'm just repeating what Boothferry2Wembly said: " An overwhelming majority of City fans I speak to on match day and in my personal life tell me that they do not wish for the name to be changed...."

I speak for myself on this board as I've said before. The aim of the campaign is to persuade Assem Allam to keep our current name and if that fails the Premier League and the FA to reject the application. To get the Premier League and the FA to reject the application we need people to actively do something. I'm not confused about people who don't express their opinion because they don't want to upset Assem Allam, or because they have "better" things to do, or whatever reason they come up with. I know that they are unlikely to support the campaign at this stage. Some may do so in the future and some won't.

I don't think I've every claimed majority support for the campaign. If we'd have had that we'd have had two mass marches at Norwich City and Cardiff City and there would have been no need for setting up CTWD.

I don't understand your question. I would have thought we are representing 100% of those fans who have expressed a direct not in favour of the name change under any circumstances.

If the question is does the campaign represent the majority of City supporters, then the honest answer is I don't know. For me that isn't the right question. The right question is; is the campaign stronger now than it was after the Cardiff City march? The answer to that is yes. Another question is are we bigger and better organised than the pro Hull Tigers supporters? Again the answer is an overwhelming yes. There is a large group in the middle and those are the people we are hoping to persuade to back the campaign in whatever way they can.

Life is grey not black and white. The vote on the name change will take place at the Premier League and the FA in the spring, lots of things can change in that time.

"You all know where I stand on this issue, but as I am attending as a representative of this board, I thought I'd have this one thread open for all posters to give their thoughts and suggest any questions you'd like answered etc"

    From OLM s OP

My thoughts are that this name change is the thin end of the wedge. Where does it end? At what stage does the team name stop being an intrinsic part of the support basis of the fans. Do we blindly follow the club, when as in the USA the franchise is moved to new cities and the origins of the club are forgotten? I would ask OLM to point out that in the view of Gregg Dyke, club owners are just custodians and should respect the traditions of not only the sport, but of each individual club.
This thread is about us, the Not 606 Hull City posters expressing their views for OLM to to pass on to Assem Allam, in that regard it isn't a debate. Expressing your view isn't debatable is it?
You really don't understand how this forum works do you.

You seem to be confused, the meeting is to discuss the name change as far as we are all aware, this may be confirmed before the meeting. The CTWD campaign have no mandate to discuss other issues on behalf of the fans and do not even have much of one to discuss this on behalf of anyone but themselves. The CTWD committee is a self appointed group. The core support of this group is no more than a few hundred. This is not a mandate to speak for the general support.

Nobody has a mandate to speak for the whole of the support, including the Official Supporters Club.

I think it is you who is confused.
I do not support the CTWD group, OLM will be representative of my voice in this as a poster on here, I have given him my mandate. I have not signed any petition and I will not be boycotting or joining in any protest.
I am a member of a supporter group, who have an elected committee (not the OSC) that represents me as a Hull City supporter.
The CTWD group cannot represent all of the fans, but they can be representative of the anti name change view and therefore they do not need a mandate. Single issue groups rarely have a fully constitutional basis. That comes in time. As OLM has stated this is only the beginning.

The reason that I do not support the CTWD, is simply that I feel that to do so would dilute my support for the group that I am a member of and in effect dilute the strength of the campaign as a whole.

I agree with just about all of this and respect your position, that said this thread is for anti-name change related matters. If you wish to take soundings on peoples positions on other matters, such as the club leaving Hull, the temperature of the pies, the waiting list for season passes after the last ones are sold off at xmas etc.. then start another thread.

I am quite happy for OLM to represent this board on the anti name change issue and would trust him to give a fair and balanced assessment of how this board see it as a group.

Let us just stick to the single issue on this thread eh?

The aim of the campaign is clear

"City Till We Die is a community group campaigning to protect the historic identity of Hull City AFC."

There should be no compromise from this stance. The aim is to retain our name. Mr Allam needs to understand how proud the supporters,of the club he owns, are of its name.

He needs to understand that changing the name will only have a negative impact on income.

The meeting is to discuss concerns supporters have with his proposal. If you have no concerns then you need no representation.

No this thread is about letting OLM know the thoughts and views that he is to take forward to the meeting. My point is valid. If Hull City AFC is not a commercially viable name, at what point would Assem Allam consider the Hull part of the name to be irrelivant?
