Somehow I think this report has bene smoking crack cocaine to arrive at a value of £6m.

But £6m + Carrick + a.n.other and we're talking.

Manchester United are being linked with a January swoop for Newcastle midfielder Cheick Tiote.

Tiote got his Newcastle career off to a great start and was a key performer as the Magpies qualified for Europe, but he has struggled to reproduce that form over the last 12 months.
However, he is still a top performer on his day and according to reports the Ivory Coast ace is on David Moyes' wanted list as he looks to add a new midfield enforcer to his ranks.
The 27-year-old has a contract with Newcastle until 2017 and Alan Pardew will do all he can to keep hold of the midfielder, who could be the subject of a £6million bid from the Red Devils in the new year.

I'd take £6m and Carrick and run as fast as I can. The way he's played the last few seasons I'd be happy to take a profit.

A couple of other outlets are reporting it too so hopefully it will turn into something.

Imagine....

Krul

Debuchy Colo Mapou Santon

Carrick Anita Cabaye
Sissoko
HBA
Remy

I dun like what Carrick brings to the table. As compared to a Tiote who seems to be regaining his form. We've seen what Tiote can do when he is at the top of his game. He is still much younger than Carrick as well, selling him for Carrick would be a step down. As much as selling Oli Bernard and getting Babayaro for us was.

And then 6 million can get you Tiote's left leg.

There are a few other additional elements to consider though mate:

- He's English
- He's a Geordie
- We will need a captain
- His disciplinary record vs Tiote = much better
- No future ACON complications

On the downside of course is his age and potential injury concerns.

like your new Avi btw.

I'd sell him for half of that, TBH. Not that it's true, like.

Agree with that. Though he looked decent last game i can't see him ever being consistent enough to rely upon again, especially considering his new found desire to be an AM.
If we could get 3 years out of carrick and a bit of money on top i would take it.
But would anyone in a better position than us take a punt on a guy who picks up yellow cards most games and is generally injured, suspended or out of sorts? No

I've been impressed with Tiote this season. However 6m is about right given his previous form. The arse dropped out his value after season 1. He has looked back to his best but its whether he'll continue to play to his strengths keeping it simple. If he starts thinking he is Xavi again then he'll quickly descend into ****e form. I wouldn't like to see him go because you couldn't be sure with us if we'd replace him.

The way things are at the moment is that all the money coming in is going to stay in.

If Moyes thinks that Carrick + 6 mio for Tiote is a good idea he needs sacking. As a far as a technical ball playing midfielder goes Tiote is MILES away from Carrick. He is good if he sticks to Smash,Pass, Repeat but he doesn't and ends up giving the ball away in silly areas. I would bite their hands off.
