Well how do I sum that up ?? I thought we were by far the better side for most of the game bar mins 46-52. It looked as though the Lads had a half time nap and were still drowsy !! And why oh why as schoolboys do we get taught to have a player defending each post at Corners .......... for exactly the reason their goal went in !!

Sess was poor, I like the look of Celustka, Roberge, Altidore and Giaciarini considering it was their home debut. We just lacked a little composure in the final 3rd. Hopefully that will come when things start to settle down a little.

Somebody should tell JOS to cease forth from the aimless looking punts up to the front men. We have wide men to play through !!

In summary overall, I was pleased with what I saw posession wise and although a defeat was far from ideal........ I keep the faith in what lies ahead.

We shouldn't be getting beat at home by the likes of Fulham.

Bitterly disappointed.

this.........typical Sunderland! Would it not have been too much to ask for us to bloody win our first game of the season against a pretty mediocre team??? It would certainly have settled our nerves and i cant help feeling that we are under pressure already! Its the pessimist in me i know! The fact we created little, much like last season, has me worried!

We are a creative CM short, overall we were canny. Whoever slated Jack? He was very good. Altidore looked good, needs better service, Cabral impressive. Defence solid bar soft looking goal (need to see again...).

No drama for me.

How did Giack, Sess and AJ do mate?

what did colback do wrong?

Just an opinion Dansafcman...I just happen to think as a full back he is not good enough in this league, Decent squad player, but not a first choice left back. To answer your question, he didn't do alot wrong to be honest, but as I say, not good enough

Disco,

Seas was really poor, AJ was involved, few nice things but not enough, looks a lot more up for it, Giacc looks very good when he settles, some nice balls in and mugged his man a few times.

Roberge looked solid, Canral best of newbies

What do you mean "by the likes of Fulham"

FYI Fulham have a better Premiership record than Sunderland.

Check the stats if you like http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/premier-league/all-time-table/10-year

Well your away record is generally not very good. A home game against a team with a poor away record should really be won, especially after our massive changes over the summer

Jack Colback.......... was my MOTM. I thought he was fairly solid in defence, showed some wing back attacking flair and worked well with Giac. Can't see why people would knock him today I'm afraid !! Positive start but with wrong result, a smash n grab from a drab Fulham side.

Have an optimistic feeling ,...... next 2 games will be telling

I think when Giaccherini and Johnson get settled with your strikers, you will score loads and have exciting games. Altidore looks to have learned a lot since his Hull days. I think SAFC will do well this season.

No great surprise there. I know the entire Sunderland supporting universe thinks he's brilliant, but I think he's so hit and miss he should be sold to Qatar or China if we can get a decent price.

Giaccharini can play in the hole and Moberg Karlson wide left.

Sess is ( in a phrase I first heard from my Dad about 50 years ago) a luxury we can't afford. (he was talking about George Herd for anyone old enough to remember)

Sess' head turned?

Obviously just conjecture but what would your guess be?

Cabral was the big plus for me today. Looks a dominant box to box central midfielder who WILL score goals for us this season.

AJ and Giac have obviously been told to take on their man at every opportunity, and Altidore looks a real handful.

I am not too bothered by the result today. Positive signs for this season.

Maybe the massive changes are the issue at the moment - still settling in. As I say above you'll be fine.

I hope you're right!

If you defend as you did today then you'll no longer have a poor record

Good luck <ok> although I hope Bent has a torrid season
