Erm. It is an island we're on. I think that's a really cool way of being referred to.

That's less derogatory than the way a fair few people refer to them. Odd really, the Germans are, genuinely, a lot like us, similar sense of humour and lots of other characteristics the same too. I wish we shared their ability at tournament football though :(

Turks also say "ada" which means island meaning GB..

The thing im liking most after watching footage, is the variety of goals he's scored, seems to have alot in his locker.

scored tricky goals wheres he's had to turn a few times and create space yet kept his composure.

Scored Headed goals, Long range strikes, scrappy tap ins, seems to be deadly around the edge of the 18 yard box given a slight bit of space to get a shot off.

Think he'l go well :)

As for Proschwitz, medical is tomorrow morning. Due to land in England this evening.

Hopefully it'll be confirmed tomorrow. I very much doubt he'll be in the friendly though

Hello @ all,
at first i want say sorry for may bad english.

We are happy that he leave us. From first day which he start at Paderborn he tell only that he want go to an other club (to a Bundesliga club). Ok, he scored 17 goals in our best season ever (5th place, 1 point behind play-offs for the Bundesliga).
So i tell you something about the player Proschwitz. He is a good player, a good worker and fighter for the team. He don´t need so much positions to score an goal. He can hold the ball, and wait for the other players. I think, he will score 18+x goals for you.

You have here an nice conversation about germany. Yes, if we speak about England/Great Britain we tell "The Island".

Here in Paderborn we have in big English Armee Baracks, maybe somene of you heard about it.

I wish you good luck with Proschwitz and hope you will get to Premier League again.

If you have some questions about Quick Nick, ask me.

Bye.

So he's tall and quick?

Do the Germans often refer to this place as 'the island'?

It sounds slightly derogatory.

Don't be so daft. Most Germans like us a lot as anyone who has spent time there will tell you.

Hope this doesn't upset you too much, but the French don't refer to the Channel as The English Channel.

Germans like the fact that we queue for things, are polite and that we have manners!! Can only assume that they watch lots of 1950's and 60's movies.

They also call us Island Monkeys (as do the French), but generally the Germans seem to respect the English / British.

Quick Nick is Nick´s nickname :-D . But he dont have it from us, it´s form his time in Vaduz/Thun.
He is not fast like Walcott but he is not slow too. He have good speed for an CF.

I'm happy so long as it's not an ironic nickname because he's really slow, like Little John in Robin Hood who was at least 7' (2.13m) tall.

On the topic of Germany, does anyone really believe any of the stereotypes associated with a whole country? It's never going to be accurate to say an entire country lacks a sense of humour.

As for Proschwitz the aerial threat will be useful but also if he can strike a ball cleanly that would be nice because it's something we missed sorely last season. I know a lot of people like Fryatt and I do too but I remain unconvinced by his way of scuffing shots across the floor instead of striking them properly and McLean strikes it but still misses most of the time. Also a bit of composure would be nice too, because our current strikers don't have that either.

Those statements about Fryatt and McLean are so true! Fryatt is a top striker, but could score so many more than he does with the amount of chances he has. Mclean just needs to score. End of.

Proschwitz has shown that he consistently scores goals and they have been scored at the top League's of other Countries. I think defences will struggle to handle him this Season.
