I was wondering whether the Tymon link would help with registration rules for match day squads, then realised that the prem unlike the championship doesn't have a quota for teams to have at least one club developed player in the match day squad, which then got me thinking, this last year when McCarthy or Jacob haven't been in the squad how have we got round this rule as Coyle isn't club developed? Anyone got any ideas?

Villa were willing to let him go for £1m to us, he's managed 13 goals in three seasons and I'm not sure what purpose he'd serve.

Sorry to use the phrase again, I'm not trying to make fetch happen, but it'd be a real Will Keane of a signing.
He’s just got double figures in the Serie A - Will Keane is an awful comparison

Don’t think Tymon would count anyway he left before turning pro at 17 didn’t he? Can’t remember exactly the criteria for club trained but I think it’s 3 consecutive years at the club after turning 16?

A "Will Keane" of a signing is the signing of a player in a position you really need to strengthen and then end up signing somebody massively ****ing underwhelming.

It doesn't actually have anything to do with Will Keane's goal scoring record. It's how disappointing he was as a signing at a time when we really, really needed somebody good.

12 months before 18 I think....so he'd qualify, not that it seems to matter as we had loads of games last season where it looks like we didnt have a club developed player in the squad and still had the full 9 subs

Depends if he’s viewed as the striker signing to compete with McBurnie. We need 3.

We’ve no chance of getting 5 million.
It does sound high, I know, but 3 or even 4 feels reasonable given the season he has had in the Champ. He got injured during a run when he was really nailing his place in the team. I think there is still potential there, just look at Slater!

Don't know how seriously it's being taken anyway but Joseph to Millwall doesn't make sense financially to me. Don't see how they could afford to match the wage he'll now be on here, so only a loan would work, but then would we want to loan him out? Not sure we would.

A loan makes total sense. If we come down he would be very important for us. He probably doesnt get a ton of football in the Premier League so another year of Championship football would be idea for all parties.

Thats an excellent point. We are used to thinking about costs and values in the Championship. Step up a level and it doesn't feel like its even being measured on the same scale. Like my dad going on about £5 a pint in London.
£5 a pint in London? He’ll be lucky, it’s more than that in a few pubs in Ull…..
