I know. I just think this one might be this season's masuaku signing haha
Masuaku was never that high level of a player. Okay for most of his career at best. Kondogbia has been very good for most of his. We have more games to play and need the bodies as well. FWIW I don't believe we are offering that much per week unless that's the base wage + Europe wage rise and signing bonus combined or something along those lines.

It’s a free transfer though, right? I’d imagine the contract will be on a one, maximum two year basis as well? When you consider those factors, while £100k is a big wage, I don’t think it will have a huge effect on finances.

History of playing at a European/International level, will know plenty of the squad and probably Le Bris too, ownership will be familiar with him due to their ties with Marseille. He fits the profile of our style, a powerful and physical midfielder.

Feel like it makes a lot of sense. Injury history is the only concern for me with this one.

Wasn’t really given a fair crack imo, I’m not saying he’s a world beater but was a decent player abroad

Stood no chance with the home sickness and the lack of interpreter at the club

Think the club used Tutierov to help him communicate early on, it looked obvious to me it wasn't going to work after only a handful of appearances, he is a very specific kind of player (inside left forward) and his success in Ukraine was due to being given quite a specific role which he thrived in.

I don't think it's necessarily a free unless Marseille decide to end his contract a year early / we buy him out of it.

I agree in that I'd like the idea of someone who's played in European footy, but the likes of sadiki who's 21 has already played 3/4 seasons in European competition and has 30+ games. So you definitely don't need to look at a 33/34 year old who's been declining in fitness and performance.

You're right that he will know reinildo and he follows mukiele on Instagram if that means anything, not sure if he'd know anyone else particularly. Don't think he'd play awfully to the level of a masuaku type signing but I don't think he'd be the best we could get all round for the money and obviously has no sell on value.

My concern comes from his game being around covering ground and breaking up play, but don't think he has the legs or fitness to consistently do that now and it's led to him dropping back to CB on occasion as he's struggled a bit in midfield - regardless it's not my money but it would be a lot of money to have sitting on the bench.

I agree with every word.

He’s been a very good player but once clubs are happy to get rid there’s normally a back story.

That back story is often lack of legs, and the PL is levels faster than Ligue 1.

Similar age to Granit, but life ain’t that simple. Granit plays pretty much every minute everywhere he goes and his game is far deeper than physicals.

If it’s 100k week that would be a concern.

Yeah and as I posted on UTL previously, his minutes and fitness has declined pretty quickly in 3 years.

Missed 37 games through injury since 23/24.

Cracking post. I wasn't sure whether Marseilles just had recruited better and he was being benched or sat in the stands but if its as set out there then, whilst our recruitment team have done a cracking job last summer and have earned our trust, there are legitimate questions to answer on this lad, not on ability as he's clearly been a class player over the years but purely injuries/no resale/wages.

Probably just his agent trying to drum up interest. Look at the links last year, how many of them actually ended up being true? We keep our cards very close to our chest nowadays, we wouldn't "leak" details like this.

This is an "Ellis Short" kind of signing, imo. Splash the cash on a flashy "name" but when you actually drill down into it he doesn't really fit our model at all. Much rather we continue to dig out hidden gems with great analytics at bargain prices.

Thanks mate, obviously I'll reiterate purely as a player I do think he could offer something (albeit a pretty large drop off from granit) but it's something that I also think countless other players could offer and the whole same agents as mukiele, pembele, le bris, ba, brobbey, masuaku does rub me the wrong way a bit.

But hey who are we to worry about the club paying 100k or 60k a week for granits backup.

Not sure why anyone get hung up on what a potential players wages might be.... Its the clubs money...you have to assume they know what they are doing given these are the same people who ....against all odds... got this club into 7th place and Europe. If they wanted to pay him a million a week, I couldn't care less...its their decision, they seem to have a handle on the clubs finances
