the video hasnt gone down well with some fans,

they think its scripted and that he HAD TO DO it, not that we wanted to, he had to, why it sounded so scripted. like he didnt want to do it, but had too to try and save face and just hope it goes away
Each to their own opinions, I was just wondering if he comes across "a bit scripted" because he isn't British, and is struggling with speaking English?

wAs has been mentioned, the mistake was cheating and believing the repercussions would be just a small fine out of the £200 million obscene rewards for achieving the Premier League.
TBF the cheating was on three different occasions with three different clubs.

It couldn’t have been more deliberate, just like the initial cover up, denial and subsequent misinformation …

… it wasn’t a mistake to believe they’d get away with a slap on the wrist either, totally calculated in my opinion.

I believe they thought they'd have more sway over the FA, who would be more lenient with them. I said from the start they needed kicking out of the Playoffs AND a points reduction for the start of next season.

If they don't show significant remorse for their actions, the EFL need to hand out further punishments. Looking forward to the FA follow-up.

I cant beleive the owner and manager have tripled down.

They cheated, lied and were caught and rightly punished. Now do what everyone is taught from a very early age and apologise, dont make stupid excuses trying to justify it.

Own your mistake, grow up and accept you tried to cheat and it back fired.

I really hope the fa throw the book at those responsible

Maybe, though his English is very good.

But he and the club have just tried to obfuscate, citing "context" and implying him being from a European coaching background was a mitigating factor, even squeezing in a reference to Guardiola. It was no such thing, unless he is irredeemably stupid, which does not appear to be the case..

The absolute first thing he should have said was to apologise, unreservedly and humbly, to the two young trainees and to the three wronged clubs. Even now, he and they have not done this and humility seems way beyond them.

They were at it, and that fact is proven. They lied until they could no longer lie, and that fact is proven. They still dissemble and behave as if they are baffled and the wronged party.

They have been treated extremely leniently.

Correct. And never, ever throw young people to the wolves. Worse still, not publicly defending them. I'll always loathe that bloke for doing that. Unforgivable.

Agree, I hope the FA get their review over quickly, then we will wait for the EFL action. I have already posted that it would probably be for the best to keep quiet until then. But, as was shown when they were first caught out over the spying at boro training, they do appear quick to obfuscate, miss-believing that it would save them.

His age is irrelevant. He will be one of the youngest there, if not the youngest and was put in an invidious position by his boss, hung out to dry, and left to take the public rap .
The owner is saying this .
want.

When I first heard the word bullying , I wanted whoever was responsible and whoever knew and did nothing about it , thrown out of the club .

Now I’m beginning to wonder if it was bullying . Hopefully we will find out for definite .

FWIW , I’m still in the Tonda OUT , group of fans but not as vehemently as I once was .

It’ll all be irrelevant anyway as the fa will ban him .

"I believe that our junior intern felt personally it's wrong, and he didn't feel right for doing this, and I think he should have expressed that stronger. I'm pretty sure that if [he had] come to us, the top management, actually it would be the seniors who would be punished, not him.

"I have a lot of pity. I'm sorry for what he had to go through. And we obviously would like him to stay in the club and we offered him a prolonged job with the club."

So he’s saying the intern should’ve gone straight to senior management and bypassed the manager of the club, his coaches and staff …

… seriously, where does that ever happen?

Why didn’t any of them go to the top and say they weren’t happy with things. No, it’s much easier to put all the blame on this kid and hope everyone believes it all … well I don’t.

More slipper evasion. He is blaming the trainee for not standing up to his boss, and telling him what was right and wrong . Or he expected him to root out the owner or senior manager and expect to be listened to.

Ridiculous. And Eckert pointedly did NOT apologise to the trainees in his statement.

You could never trust a man like that. And players will know this too.

Sorry you don't like what people are saying but I doubt this forum in any different to the others ...

... Southampton are a disgrace to football in my opinion, carrying on as if nothing happened is shameful.
No your right , it’s fing everywhere .

Just sick of it TBH .

Hey ho , there more to worry about in my little life .

Enjoy your season when it starts .
