Seems they are keeping him as manager. Im not surprised. He'll be saying 'sack me and I'll admit to further cases of spying'. The club must be frantically darting around plugging any possible leaks proving further cheating. There must be more potentional 3 point deductions hanging over them if found out.
Good point mate. Hadn't thought of that. If that is the case, he's got them over a barrel.

It's intrigue upon intrigue. My take is that, apart from the spying thing, they think he's a ****ing good coach and want to try to ride this out and keep him, otherwise they'd have binned him already.

The damage done is massive and getting worse.

Mad that Eckert et al thought the spying was worth doing and the consequences if found out wouldn't be that bad.
they generally thought they would get a fine, thats it,

they thought they would win at wembley, get the 200m and the fine will come out of that.

they didnt see any of this happen,

rumours doing the round that the FA will throw the book at them,

they are waiting for the FA to finish their investigation, punish Tonda so they dont have too so they can look like the good guys.

Just watching it now, for anyone interested

Well I have sat through that, and I waited, right up until the end to hear his apology to Middlesborough and Oxford. The nearest he got was apologising to "the other teams involved". They weren't "involved", they didn't know what was happening.

This is just a pile of self serving blather and a collection of excuses which he follows by saying they are not excuses. Claiming ignorance is ridiculous, as he knew by the young trainees' reluctance and reactions that it was against the rules here. And clearly, if he didn't think it was wrong, he would have had it done completely openly.

But most damning of all, not one mention, not one word of apology about forcing those young trainees to do this cloak and dagger work on his behalf. He claims that he has sat down and given this statement without a script and he may well have done.

But the first people on his mind, and the first people who should have recieved an apology were those young trainees. Not a single word on them, and for that at least, this character cannot be forgiven.

No he doesn't. Not to the young lads involved, and not to the clubs directly. It was self serving mush. He is lying or extremely stupid. And he seems a pretty smart guy to me.
I thought he does, 5 minute mark onwards, then says this message is unscripted and from the heart.

Good message to be fair. Apologies for mistake.

Surely a ‘mistake’ is wandering onto someone’s training facilities by accident then walking off as quickly as possible …

… not planning the spying, organising the trip, taking a change of clothes, analysing the data, utilising it all and attempting to gain an advantage.

Apologies, I miss read your other post, as I thought he did apologise to the "young lads", but I agree, he did not apologise specifically to the ones who carried out the spying... or to the specific clubs in general. However, I thought it was a fair apology.

As has been mentioned, the mistake was cheating and believing the repercussions would be just a small fine out of the £200 million obscene rewards for achieving the Premier League.
