Not sure whether to put this in here or in the Off The Field Operations thread. Class from the club though putting all over the airport

Can someone explain to me how this was allowed to happen in their airport?

It's theirs and if all else fails they have "you have to fly from Newcastle to get to Spain" to fall back on. But if its theirs why are they celebrating the lads getting to Europe?

Any excuses for this will be gold!

There’s one on that thread called “yanuted” who seems to know exactly what’s going to happen with us. Apparently Emery inherited a £200m better squad than Howe. So they’re playing catch up!!

All I hear are excuses
Emery inherited a squad in big trouble. Since which time he has spent ten times less net on transfers than the Saudis. No wonder they wanted him. He's a very smart guy, one of the best in the game, so no wonder he knocked them back. He could probably see a dysfunctional ****show in the making and wanted no part of it.

A manager can only do so much, some say as little as 10% difference in the modern game. He knew to stay away.

Aye. It's the favourable coverage that's killing a lot of them, from the end of last season up to the end of this one, loads of telly heads banging on a out the hot atmosphere in matches etc.

Had a belter yesterday with one of the less able of their throng. He had retreated into the idea that finishing 7th didn't make much difference to finishing 17th.

I told him that to a little club like Sunderland, the nearly £40m in merit payments, (gone up it seems, it's now £3.8m a place) plus the Europa League money would help us to keep the lights on for a short while.

"Loads of ****e, you've just made that up because you're going bust".

And off he went. I shouldn't poke them really, but.....

Class aren't they.

Well if you think about it, this is only reasonable.

The Airport is owned 49%/51%.

The 49% is a UK infrastructure fund, and a Spanish Airport operator. The 51% is the seven local authorities. Of that 51%, Sunderland City Council is known to have, at about 19%, the largest single share .

We should have received a discount!

It's pitiful seeing them squirm to be honest.

Instead of being blunt, and saying they're not happy with the situation, they'll trot out this drivel.

It's actually incredible that a club with unlimited finances can actually make such a mess of things.

It's clear that there's a core atmosphere, at the club, that's blindingly obvious but not spoken about ...

... the Newcastle players have absolutely no idea of what the club is.

They don't even know who the owners are, what do they tell their families?

This is why the likes of Isak, Gordon, Tonali, etc, want to leave Newcastle ... who are they playing for?

Seeing the entire 'Sunderland family' on the SOL pitch must've crippled them emotionally ...

... they have nothing to compare with that, they don't even know what the club stands for any more.

They claimed they had their club back but, in truth, it barely exists except in a set of accounts.

Money comes in and out and so do the players, no pride, no love, no decency.

We're only a few points ahead of them but miles better in all the ways that make it a joy to be a supporter.
Has their owner, Bin salman or whatever he’s called, actually visited or attended a game yet

Yes, Bin Salman is his name. And of course no, he won't ever turn up. His henchman comes though, and phoned him up from the pitch at Wembley.

But you can be sure about this.

It was Bin Salman who told that same henchman to stop blasting billions on some floodlit golf. And it will have been Bin Salman who told him to start looking for external investment at the Hotch Potch. And it will be Bin Salman who tells him to get out of there in due course.

Unless that is, one of the remaining family members who Bin Salman hasn't yet had murdered, murders him.

Don’t know the workings of the Saudi government but when you say he’ll NEVER turn up, can’t get my head around why he wouldn’t visit a investment, not banned from the UK is he? Also surely it brings the whole club together when your owner attends with the fans, just look at KLD on the pitch on Sunday absolutely brilliant

He is the Crown prince. He isn't the King, (that's an ageing bloke called Salman Bin - imaginative lot are they not?!) but his word is law in almost everything in Saudi Arabia. Turning up at a provincial football ground in England, just because his government owns it would be like a royal visit. Won't happen.

No, certainly not banned from the UK, he was bunging Boris Johnson backhanders to push the NUFC deal through and our esteemed leader used to visit regularly …

… the Saudi ‘king’ has to pretend he doesn’t own the club, that’s a hard working team of anonymous investment bankers who no one ever sees, too busy.

The Premier League have legally binding assurances don’t you know <laugh>

I've no idea if this is correct, but,if so, I think KLD should acquire our Council share and mount a takeover for the rest of it. When that's complete,he should rename it "The Wear Tyne Airport"and make it illegal to wear a Mag top in any of the airport buildings.

….. worse than nothing to compare , they have the 2 greatest supporters of a football club the world has ever known … ( only if it’s Wembley or open top bus) … Ant and Dec to compare.

To be fair, a lot of their "family" died in 9/11. <laugh>
