Looks like 7th place is worth around £150m in prize money, thats basically covered our spending this season so financially I think we should be fine to make a few big signings again.

Europa League is worth about £3.5m per home game in the group stages, and we are guaranteed 4 of those even if we don't get out of the group.

Makes you realise how incredible the 7th placed finish is for the stability of the club.
Absolutely buzzing to see what sort of players we are linked with this summer. I'm more confident that the likes of Roefs, Sidiki and a few others will stay with us now that we are in Europe, and if anyone wants them next summer they will all have European footy under their belts to push the price tag up.

Ha'way Flo lad!

Been in since about 9 ish, and just soaking up what we have done here.

For me, today has been immense, just beyond words.
The league 1 play off final, Ballards goal vs Coventry, Tommy's goal vs Sheff Utd.
Due to circumstance I wasnt there for any of them, and I've often wondered would I ever see, or feel, a moment like that.
Well, today I did, and as mentioned above....it was immense.

I cant thank you all enough for your support over the past few months, its due to you all that I started attending games again, you all helped give me today.
When I got home tonight, I thought about it all....about going back to games, about meeting new friends, about being involved. I must admit, I found it a bit emotional tonight, did I mention today was immense?

Had an absolutely fantastic day, from @kirkyboy picking me up this morning in Consett (without snow tyres as well), to meeting up with fellow posters for lunch in the city centre, and pre-match drinks in the fans museum with some absolutely amazing people....strangers who are now friends.

Post match, went back to the museum and met up with a few fellow posters again, brilliant post match drinks just taking in the day.

Special mention to @kirkyboy for the lift this morning, @gelders pie for the lift home.
Also a massive thank you to @Gordon Armstrong and @Smug in Boots...for everything.

Im having a couple of cans of Kronenbourg now watching MOTD.
Today has been a special day, and its due to everyone on here thats its been a special day.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Wow, what a day.
What a lovely post. Glad you had a good day Snaggey. I’m sure we all did and let’s face it we all deserved it. It was a bit emotional. When the final whistle went and my lads were signing and shouting I had a quiet moment thinking about all the times I went to Roker park with my Dad. He was always optimistic. If I asked him how he thought we’d do today - he always said “ We’ll win” if we lost he’d say - “ they’re rubbish, but we’ll win next week” His ashes were buried at the SoL so he will have been there with the rest of us.
So for me it was a moment within a moment.

“Have you seen a Mackem in Milan” maybe soon
That's got to be a new chant. "Now you're gonna see a Mackem in Milan" <laugh>

Yesterday was f***in marvellous! The atmosphere was superb from start to finish and our wonderful players duly obliged.

Normally, I can hear myself chanting at the match. Yesterday, I couldn't because the noise in the stadium was so loud. Our supporters are just the best in the business and thoroughly deserve the good times that we are experiencing now.

As Xhaka said, "This is just the beginning". It's awesomely frightening what lies ahead for this club. Happy as a pig in **** today. HTL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great post and a fantastic day. Was good to meet you and some of the other fans at the Museum. Looking forward to next season already. Cannot wait for it to start!!

There’s been flashes and in those flashes he’s been superb.

If we get sustained periods at the Everton level he’s a baller
Agreed with that mate.

Confidence is such a big thing in football. Diarra was playing with a reasonable amount of it at the start of the season. It's a tough gig being a side's record signing and the weight of it, plus settling in a new country, held him back from completely shining imo.

Diarra has had a few setbacks and lesser characters might have gone into their shells. He has never hidden though and has been an important contributor.

Next season we'll see more from him, as well as a few other of the younger players. If Sadiki gets a lot better after a year in the PL, mind, then he'll be phenomenal!

Spot on about Diarra. Hand in 2 goals last weekend. Has contributed quite a bit. Problem is his “mistakes” as always, sit to the forefront of those minds who seem desperate to write him off, or want something to whinge about.

The atmosphere and the intensity was all too much for the referee to handle tbh …

… he’ll be in a darkened room, this morning, with his wife bringing cups of tea.
Kavanagh is a strange ref. When he's good he's pretty decent. But when he's not, he's awful but it's not Jarred Gillette awful, more inconsistent and fussy with a tendency not to make a decision. He's not god awful like Atwell, who always messes up regularly and majorly but it really depends on what mode he's in on the day. We forget that he refereed the play off final last year pretty well, but yesterday he was poor. Just no consistency.

Just thought I'd offer my apologies to @Smug in Boots @gelders pie @kirkyboy @safcyellowbelly and others for leaving the fans museum early yesterday, the craic was good and it was great to put faces to names in here but around the stadium when the team bus came in was absolutely brilliant - it was a mini Trafalgar Square with the noise and flares in abundance. The grandson was absolutely buzzing and what made it even better was that atmosphere outside continued inside the stadium for the full 102 minutes.

Here's to the next meet up and hoping that the hangovers are not too bad this morning
No need to apologise mate. Can’t blame you for taking the kids to see the team coach. They are the next generation of supporters that we need to encourage and memories of yesterday will go a hell of a long way to achieving that. Pleasure to meet you and hopefully see you at the museum next season!……still owe you that pint! <cheers>

If anyone knows someone with a new signed Onien shirt give him a good slap. Scumbag......

Please help this poor family:

A Sunderland mother has spoken of their anger after her grandson had a signed match-worn shirt stolen moments after receiving it following today’s game.

The supporter said their grandson had been left heartbroken after player Luke O’Nien’s wife kindly returned with a shirt for him after the match.

According to the account, the youngster was “over the moon” after being handed the shirt, before a man reportedly came up behind him, grabbed it, and ran off.

Several people attempted to chase the suspect, but he managed to escape.

The grandparent described the incident as “disgusting” and said they hoped the person responsible would face karma for ruining such a special moment for a young supporter.

Please can we get Luke O'Nien to see this and dead out we are all gutted for the lad.
Funny, we probably bumped into who stole the shirt. We were waiting near the tunnel after nearly everybody had left. This strange lad wanders over and he's got something under his replica home shirt. He had bits of white at the sides of his mouth and I wasn't sure if he was drunk, off his head or a bit strange. Probably a combination.

We looked at him with a bit of puzzlement and he said it was a shirt under his top. Obviously a bit shifty but of course we didn't know the story of the grandson having a shirt nicked. Makes sense now.

Hope O'Nien is told and they can sort something for the poor lad.

FAO SAFC …

… around 22/23 tickets changed hands on this forum this week but, as far as I know, no money.

Nor did anyone feel obliged to change the names on the tickets. Everyone present were decent Sunderland supporters who, for various reasons, can’t always find a ticket through the club. The only currencies needed are goodwill, trust and the odd pint of beer.

The club needs to recognise the blindingly obvious fact that we’re not ticket touts or criminals who should be banned from games …

… sorry to add a sour note but, ffs, get it sorted Sunderland.
