This keeps getting trotted out
But what have the players he’s picked done?? **** all
To be fair, the rest have had much fewer games for England than Foden has been given. Saka has played about the same number of games, impacts most matches, and scored 14 goals.

Eze 3 goals in 16
Madueke 1 in 10
Gordon 2 in 17
Palmer 2 in 14
Bowen 2 in 22

Maybe Tuchel got it wrong, but tbh I think this could be the wake up call Foden needs.

55 goals in 62 games, which he should be doing really. It's not as if we have a ton of decent English strikers though, so I understand that one
Plus he will be used to the high temperatures and great at penalties. I’m not against him going, think it’s sensible. Watkins will be used more as a sub than Toney I would guess but unless Kane gets injured they both won’t feature much.

Id have taken Bowen definitely cos he’s had a good season
What have the others done this season is what I meant

Agreed apart from Mainoo.

Think there's a class player there. Certainly good enough for that squad.
Do you? I think he’s a headless chicken who’ll get given the run around against a good team as he’s clueless of his position

I think he's technically good on the ball in tight spaces, uses it well and likes to play a forward pass.

Knits things together well.

All much of a muchness tbh. League only:
Rashford - 8 goals, 7 assists in 17 starts
Saka - 7 goals, 10 assists from 25 starts
Eze - 7 goals, 3 assists from 22 starts
Gordon - 6 goals, 4 assists from 24 starts
Madueke - 2 goals, 1 assist from 15 start
Palmer - 9 goals, 2 assists from 23 starts
Foden - 7 goals, 5 assists from 22 starts
Bowen - 8 goals, 12 assists from 37 starts

Couple of surprises but Tuchel obviously picks form rather than reputation which potentially has held England back in previous tournaments. Looks a decent squad to me, semi finals maybe..after that it’s down to who has the most class and the usual suspects will prevail.

Maguire and his family’s public reactions to him not being picked just vindicates the decision not to pick him.

I’d have taken Palmer, Wharton and Gibbs-White but I haven’t seen the actual squad yet so don’t know who I’d replace or if those three deserve a place more than who has been picked. If Henderson is still getting picked then I’m lost for words. To be fair, Palmer had one good season and he got put into world-class territory by some pundits way too early on the back of that. Foden has seemingly peaked too early in his career too.

England only have Harry Kane and maybe Jude Bellingham as truly world-class players. Everyone else is either a tier or two below that.
I agree it's a very ordinary squad .
Quality up front and decent at the back but our midfield isn't a great deal better than Scotland's .
In fact Scotland have a really decent midfield and **** all else .
Last 8 Max for England and surely the jicjs. can't **** up getting to the last 32.

England don’t have a tempo-setter in midfield. Wharton is the closest thing and they won’t take him. Rice, Bellingham, Anderson etc. are all good, energetic midfielders but none of them can dictate the tempo of a game from deep.
