It's hilarious that McBurnie doesn't make that squad.

I'm all for anything that weakens them though.
The weirdest bit specifically is that the striker who starts for them, Dykes, is on paper the weakest of the lot. McBurnie has bossed the Championship, Adams has been playing in Serie A, Stewart has done well in the Championship when fit, Shankland scores loads albeit in Scotland. And then Dykes is at Charlton with 3 goals to his name and starts ahead of all of them. Simplistic way of looking at it but it's hard to understand how that happens.

It's become a bit of a joke, but Dykes?

I get that building a team isn't always about the best players. But there's nothing he brings that McBurnie doesn't do much better.

I don’t disagree with anything said here, but simplistically Dykes has scored goals for Scotland and McBurnie, when he had his chance, didn’t.

Lyndon Dykes is properly **** though. It’s baffling and will come back to bite Clarke, I’m certain of it.

Makes me wonder about the selection process for Scotland. Leaving McBurnie out for those named strikers makes no sense. Clarke will regret this decision. Early knockout for Scotland!
I like Shankland, although no idea how good he really is because of the standard of the Scottish league, but the rest are definitely not the same standard as McBurnie. You could understand if he was in a squad with a McCoist, Dalglish or Denis Law, but we are talking about very average players.

McBurnie 18 goals this season
Hirst 11 goals
Stewart 11 goals
Adams 5 goals
Dykes 3 goals

Favouritism simple as .
Dykes is a sub for Charlton

He was caught on video talking to John Fleck when he was at Sheff Utd and said that the Scotland set up was 'sh!te' or words to that effect.

It seems to appear Clarke wasn't over enamoured.
Just had Talk Sport on Hawksby and Jacobs and a Scottish newspaper guy .
They where on about if any player causes any kind of consternation they are considered a bad apple and won't be in a Clarke squad

Shankland is a decent player, the rest are duds and this decision is purely personal from a scruffy little coach with an axe to grind.

Ross Stewart is decent though isn't he? Definitely see him as a danger man for Saturday. Just very injury prone.

Dykes is likely the, or on par with, the worst CF at the tournament.

Not fit to lace John Moore's boots.

Big lad who came through the ranks in Scottish Football and had a good ratio with Sunderland but he's sort of dropped off and injury has played a part in that.

Yes,he's big and poses a threat at set pieces for us anyway but I'm not sure he's a good fit within the Scotland set up and McBurnie would have worked his socks off in every game(would have been interesting to see him perhaps even up front with Shankland in a front 2 pairing)

Like I say,it's personal and Clarke won't exactly fall on his sword over it because they'll slither out of the tournament one way or another and suffice to say I'm not surprised by this decision in the slightest.
