I know someone already mentioned it, but it still says 3pm kick off on the Wembley Hospitality package website.
Given they’re charging you £519 for a package that includes 3 hours pre match access to hospitality including a free bar and a buffet etc it would be a bit poor if you bought one (and you can buy one now if you fancy it) with it advertised as 3pm and then they changed it to 12 for example.
I mean I don’t mind a 9am pint, but I wouldn’t fancy a 10am buffet lunch.

TWT I guess…

Agreed but a 10am buffet second breakfast? Now we’re talking.

It’s weird the entire Football League suddenly backing us (or wanting us) to win.

The suggestion about it not being a fine is because, should they win, they would regain that money and wouldn’t deter others from doing it. If they lose, they’ll still get money from the gate of the final.

It’s a strange one. Doesn’t seem enough time to kick them out at one end of the scale but a fine wouldn’t be a punishment at the other.

Remember Swindon getting demoted after winning the playoffs in 1990. That was for illegal payments to players. Actually demoted two divisions but reduced to one on appeal.

You could say that's a benchmark to judge it by. Both can be considered cheating. Is one much worse than the other?

Points penalty may be the cleanest. Ten point deduction next season regardless of division.

It should be a penalty that impacts the results otherwise every club will just budget for a fine for cheating and do it. The easiest option at this late stage would be for Saints to be declared to have defaulted the first leg of their semifinal with standard result of 3-0, due to their admitted cheating in preparation for the match. This would then mean Boro win the semi on aggregate and it’s a Northern final.

If the EFL then want to investigate the accusations of cheating throughout the season they can look to impose further penalty (points deduction) next season.

The league table since we beat Southampton in January. Stretch that form over the full season it’s enough for 113 points and +65 goal difference with 104 goals scored.

Here's hoping we have come out of our drop off in form with the Norwich and Millwall performances, and they, after all these shenanigans have a drop off of form.

Agreed on deductions tho as this is an EFL matter not sure they can deduct points if they go up, it'd have to wait til they're back down. Also potential allegations of spying on cup competitions too....so could even see a seasons ban from fa cup if arsenal get wind and kick up a fuss.....I can't see how they can take any action within the next 10 days, too many teams beyond Boro potentially impacted...Wrexham for eg would kick off if they were expelled from the play offs, potentially relegated teams too.....it's a right ****ing mess

There's an agreement between efl and EPL now so it could be applied in EPL.

I wonder if Southampton are trying to pin this on Eckert and make him the fall guy - it’s all his fault, the hierarchy knew nothing, we are as shocked as everyone, etc. He might be gone by the end of the day, the creepy ****er.

I can't see the FA banning Southampton and reinstating Boro, especially if there is systematic spying.

It would a legal minefield. Not only would you have appeal from Southampton you'd other teams taking legal action as well. Teams near the play offs plus maybe teams who got relegated.

A former member of Southampton's staff has given more evidence as well as a statement to Middlesbrough regarding the club spying on opponents before games.

I suspect that whatever penalty Southampton get, it's going to be more severe than it would have been 24 hours ago, it's wall to wall coverage everywhere now.
